    New Combine for the roster

You should receive the "most patient model railroader" award for tackling the juice models! Looks great!

    Beyer-Garratt

I'll probably never build one, but I have thought about how I would do it. I would use two Mantua Pacific mechanisms and a heavy large Bowser boiler for weight. The rest could be scratched from parts. Since the drive assemblies are under the coal and water tender parts of the engine, you...

    firebox

That is the "JAWS" of fireboxes. I've never seen arch tubes or siphons with that web like reinforcing from the top. Thank God for automatic stokers!

What Is Your Favorite Diesel Locomotive

Baldwin Centipedes, Sharks, EMD SD45s, Alco RS-whatevers, almost all FM engines. Also, I find the little side rodded industrial locos interesting. Oh, I almost forgot, the EMD E7. Something about those square side windows.

    little known loco manufacture

Hey, I really like seeing something I've never seen before on the rails, especially that B-B-B-B diesel. That's what keeps it interesting. Thanks!

    Train Song Lyrics

Big Train From Memphis From Roy Orbison When I was young, I spent my summer days Playin' on the track. The sound of the wheels rollin' on the steel Took me out, took me back. Big Train from Memphis, Big Train from Memphis, Now it's gone gone gone, gone gone gone. Like no...

What is your favorite Steam Locomotive?

That question is as hard to answer as the "Do these pants make me look fat? deathtrap. I tried, and I can't nail down one engine, I've got lots of favorites. I will name one of them. New Hope & Ivyland 2-8-0 #40. I was lucky enough to get a cab ride on that little engine a few years ago. The...

    What say ye?

I am like most model railroaders, I suppose, because I like to model the 1950's for the steam and diesel variety of that period. I don't really covet the later stuff. I like it, but I like the earlier stuff more. It's the same with roadnames. If it's not N&W,PRR,WM B&O or RDG, I can do without...

I told you that bridge was rotten!

While replacing a bridge on my railroad, I decided to use the oppurtunity to have a little photo fun. I made the new bridge out of a pair of Atlas plate girder bridges. I cut the side panels off and reattached them below the deck. I also narrowed the bridge about 1/2 an inch. Moral- Inspect...

    Turntable Polarity Indicator

I would like to build a polarity indicator for my scratchbuilt turntable. I use a DPDT switch to make the polarity conform to the exit track as usual, but I would like to know whether the polarity needs to be switched before the engine crosses the gap to or from the table rails. The indicator...

HO Diesel Engine Proto 2000 Break in

I've never had to break in any of my modern diesels. I do usually try not to run them under full load for a few minutes, just in case. Sometimes the LifeLike system of directional lighting drains a lot of power through the resistors. I've removed the lighting circuitry from most of my...
