    k.u.k. Marine Wien

Another top-down view, towards the stern this time. I have been working on the ship off and on since December '03. I worked very steadily on it from 12/23/03 until the end of January. I took a break until March to work on cars, did a little more in March, knocked off again until last week...

    k.u.k. Marine Wien

The Wien was a coastal defense battleship built in the 1890's. Of quite modest displacement (around 7,500 tons), the ship carried a 10" main battery and 5.9" secondary armament. She was torpedoed by the Italians in 1917.

    k.u.k. Marine Wien

This is the JSC 1/250 Austro-Hungarian pre-dreadnought battleship Wien (Vienna). I have been debating with myself whether or not to make a thread about it. At first, I was doubting my skills and didn't want to make an ass of myself by announcing the build with fanfare and then falling on my...

    Battleship Bismarck

Great work on the turrets, Scorpio ! Very intereesting how you made the rivets.

    IJN Takao

I second that, Barry. The ship is coming along very nicely indeed. :)

virtual reconstruction of the Viribus Unitis

That's excellent, Renaud ! I have the 1:250 JSC model of the Viribus Unitis, as yet unbuilt. I don't really like the rather garish green color of the kit (JSC has two versions, should've gotten the gray one !), but there's no denying she was a very handsome ship. If I ever get around to...

OT but cool: Anyone want a full size Akira bike?

I really can't tell much from the lnk...maybe I'm doing something wrong.

    A simple one off

Nice boat, Rick. :) BTW, how do you get the larger file sizes in your attachments ? I always get it rejected if I put something larger than 25kb.

    Digital Navy Fuso

I second that. Just the "Pagoda mast" assembly alone is absolutely amazing.

    EXCLUSIVE Prototyp's Bentley Speed 8

Received my two Protyp kits today. 4 parts sheets per model and they're a thing of beauty. Brake rotors, Silk Cut livery, carbon fiber parts, etc.; all done in sharp clarity - photo-realistic quality. Well done, Prototype.

    A new beginning

Hmmm. :?: Judging by that bulkhead, could it be the Flymodel Kruzensztern ?

    EXCLUSIVE Prototyp's Bentley Speed 8

Rick, Just placed my order for the XJR-11 and the Nissan. Took a look at the build tutorials while I was on Prototyp's site. You're weren't kidding, these are not n00b kits.

    EXCLUSIVE Prototyp's Bentley Speed 8

Rick, Oh, I assure you - curbside suits me just fine. I think trying to do something like an engine comparment with the engine and all the associated parts, suspension bits and the like in paper would be insanely difficult. Not to mention, anything that detracts from the...

    EXCLUSIVE Prototyp's Bentley Speed 8

As in "skill" of the design, or "skill" required of the builder ? Actually, I don't fear the prospect of complexity, as long as the instructions are good and the fit of the parts is precise....On your Jag, is it a curbside model, or are there removable body panels and so on ?

    EXCLUSIVE Prototyp's Bentley Speed 8

Oh, yeah ! I will be building that one. :) And I'm about to place an order for the Nissan P35 and the Group C Silk Cut Jaguar. I'm working on the Nissan R390 GTR1 free download right now for practice. So far, it's going quite well.

    Welcome To The Paper Navy

Perhaps he means JSC's variation on the standard egg-carton framework. Most of their ships are formed with some central box shapes glued onto the middle of the base. Then you glue on outer bulkheads which attach to these on the inside and to the hull skin on the outside. It seems to work...

    the realm of armor....

Some good points there, Charlie. I've never built a track link-by-link in paper. Nor do I really want to. I can imagine it's quite possibly the most tedious task in modeling. (Another which comes close is tying off ratlines on a ship model - something I have done). Your proposed approach...

    the realm of armor....

nebeltex, I went to your site and looked around, Nice tanks ! I don't really have any experience building card models of armor subjects, though I've done my fair share in plastic: 1/35, 1/48 and 1/72. Yours look very good indeed in 1/72, and if I were looking for a budget approach to...

    Welcome To The Paper Navy

Nice intro, Max. I think it was a good idea to add subject-specific forums. I'm building the kuk Wien right now. It's a 1/250 JSC model of an Austro-Hungarian pre-dreadnought battleship. I like sailing ships too, but I'm too lazy to do all that rigging.
