    Minimum Radius Required?

At the club, the industrial branch's horseshow curve has a radius of about 16' maybe less. I can get Superliners over it if I'm going slow. Another member has a DD40X and it does ok with the 18" curves in some places. (it overhangs by a lot, but it makes it without derailing)

    Atlas GP9s

take the shell off and see if it has a circuit board of some sort. If it does. check to see if it has wires connected to the motor, trucks, etc. If it does, then theres probably also a plug for a dcc decoder.

    Athearn bluebox+DCC= Unneeded wiring

I don't know which DCC system you have, but if it's digitrax, you need to set the CV values to load the speed tables for the loco to run smoothly

    HO Scale Operational Hi-Rail

Well, it's from Bachmann's normal line and you can get mixed results with their normal line. The hi-rails are smaller so they weigh less but their motors are also small. I've never actually seen one being run, but next time when I visit the LHS, I will ask if they can run one to show me. I'll...

    HO Scale Operational Hi-Rail

You might want to try one of Bachmann's Ready to Run HO scale Hi-rails. They are actually pretty nice!. They are all powered and will run! Here's a pic. MY LHS has them for around $30 Bachmann also makes a Hi-Rail Utility truck And also this thing which I can't quite describe

Kato F40ph...Only available in RTA and Amtrak Phase 3?

Yes, but what I meant is that if they made one, then I'd buy it. If they don't want to make one, then I am ok with not having one. It's not like I just have to have it. Also, Kato is the only company that has made a correct F40PH with the correct number of stanchions and the correct...

Kato F40ph...Only available in RTA and Amtrak Phase 3?

The thing with Kato is that they do everything in limited runs. Kato's F40PH is no longer in production. Amtrak DID retire their F40PHs, and scrapped most of them, but they converted 2 or 3 of them to "cabbage" cars. They removed the prime mover, filled the fuel tank with concrete, and cut a...

Post "Current Shots" of Fallen Flag Power Here

I saw this one last saturday (3 days ago) This SOO Line SD60 was running in CSX service past the Worcester Yard on track 1 in Worcester, MA on the Boston Line. It's been running around the Boston Line between Selkirk, NY and Framingham, MA

    Uncoupler magnets: Your experience?

someone should suggest to kadee to make an electromagnet that ties into track power and has a switch to turn it on and off.

CODE 100 or CODE 83 TRACK

the newer locomotives can run on either. Code 100 is best for the older stuff that has the larger flanges and for European stuff like Rivarossi. Code 100 is cheaper while code 83 is more accurate scale-wise.

    Painting Locomotives and Rolling stock

Yes, but not the Athearn GP9s. I KNOW that those come with the handrails already assembled.

    Painting Locomotives and Rolling stock

Ok, If I do decide to buy from HD or Target (no Walmarts near me) I'll try spraying a piece of carboard first to see how thick it is. I've never actually tried totake the railings off a locomotive before though. Are they removable? The ones I am buying will have the railings preassembled.

    Painting Locomotives and Rolling stock

Do I have to use a model railroad paint? Can I get a can of spraypaint at home depot and use that instead? Also, should I cover the spots that I need to cover with masking tape? And if th railings should be the same color as the body, should I just leave the railings on and spraypaint it...

The thing is, I didn't take a picture of the coal train. If I see it again, I will though.

Post "Current Shots" of Fallen Flag Freight HERE:

I don't have any pictures yet, but Providence and Worcester Railroad has a ton of Conrail hoppers. I saw a coal train pull out of Worcester, MA with at least 40 Conrail hoppers on it.

    Painting Locomotives and Rolling stock

As a hobby. I was thinking of soaking the shell of an athearn GP9 in rubbing alcohol to remove the paint, then use a paintbrush to paint on the colors for MBTA. I was thinking about modeling the switcher locomotives that MBTA uses. Can Kato shells be soaked in rubbing alcohol too? I was...

CODE 100 or CODE 83 TRACK

That and most stuff imported from Europe. European stuff has the large European style flanges. The flanges are too big for code 83 and are too big for turnouts for code 100. (I've noticed that my Boeing LRV seems to hop up a little when going over turnouts with the plastic frog)
