Update in the track layout section ;)

Hi again all. WELL it has changed hasn't it;) Decided between us that continual running was important after all. Tha overall layout is now 6ft by 2ft 6". Comments welcome but be gentle, this took me ages:D

OK, still laying out and the track is changing...sure this happens to everyone :) Layout is becoming a little more "normal" but it should be a final design by the end of the weekend. Will post pics when done

Hi Mike, Yeah had a play with it but I'm not that PC minded. Main thing is that I have converted atlas to Peco (as it is hard to get Atlas over here) and I think my substitutions are a little out..... still I dont mind a 5ft by 3ft layout (even though I was aiming for 3 x 2) have lots of room...

Just started doing a temp layout with the track to get the final size so I can buy the correct size of board and DOHHHH!!!! guess who forgot to buy 18! ST-15 curves.... I say again DOH!! Hmmm this thing is looking big:D

do I need to break both rails or just one?

This is how I was planning on wiring (on my layout though) The wiring looks easy enough but what do the dashes stand for on the track, are they cuts in the track or just the ends of the turnout?? Cheers Mark

Was planning to run both trains at the same time, one shunting in the yard ready for the second to come in and pick up. I will get the layout set out and then re-post with my ideas and you can let me know just what I am doing wrong if thats ok? Cheers Mark

I was planning to use cut tracks and switches to isolate so please feel free to elaborate on the switches :)

Thanks for the illustraion, really helps a lot. Would the points not isolate the seperate tracks?

What I have gone for is a couple of cheap hornby controllers, if we really get into things then we will go the DCC route but hopefully the basics should be ok for us to get started with

Yeah I did think about doing that, just trying to figure out the hills without taking up all the room on the board. Thought it would look ok if i made the left spur (top right square of the board) on a small hill for a logging camp or something like that and then flow down over a bridge at the...

I spent an hour or so last night converting a modified Atlas layout to Peco and it looks like it will work without too much problem apart from the cross over. I have seen this one on ebay, anyone know if they are any good? am I correct in thinking that the two directions (south to north and west...

Andrew THANKS! that version looks very good indeed The loop in the other thread is still a possible but I was trying to stick with a layout that has a list of required bits that I know will work as I really have NO idea what I am doing!! Not really planning on joining clubs etc...it may be...

Hi Jack, please forgive my stupidity but why would linking the bottom right spur to the main line cause a reverse loop?

Total newbie from the N-gauge section HELP!! Really like this layout but it is spec'd in atlas and I dont know if I can get this in England, any ideas? Would also love to link the lower spur on the right onto the main line, could that be done? Thanks in advance Mark and Fiona
