I spotted a box late tonight on one an old Atlas flatcar between a couple of nasty looking automobiles. Looks like the kids were playing... :) No really...honest :p

You Know Your A Train-a-holic When

Hello, my name is John. I'm not a train-a-holic. Nope. Not even in the slightest. I'm not a collector, I use these trains. :D (and rolling stock, and trains and cars and trains, and, oh! don't forget about the steamers, and, uh.... ) This thread reminds me of a...

Your opinions of rolling stock brands

I like the MT cars and have a number of them. Their level of detail is incredible! I also have a number of Atlas (some recent, some from the mid-1970's), InterMountain, a couple of DeLuxe, some Con-Cor and a Red Caboose or two. And Bachmann  I've had problems with the Accu-mate...

    MicroTrain Database

George, thanks for posting the link to your site. I really like the "A1G" section, as I have couple of those cars which managed to survive what my brother and I inflicted upon them whilst we were growing up :D -- John

    Some of my W.I.P.

Mike, thanks for the comments. I gave the building a light rubdown with and it seemed better. Then I mixed up a brownish wash, thinned it out quite a bit, and gave that a go. It seemed to reduce the amount of "soot" on the building a little bit. I'll see what I can manage tonight when I...

    Great Find!

I found a Bachmann HO set on serious clearance at Wally World a few years ago, and bought it in a moment of weakness as I model N scale. It turns out this was a good thing for my boys. It gave them something they could practice setting on the track and learning how to be careful with the...

    Poll: Operations

Well, considering my current train board consists of a couple of concentric ovals, I'm just running trains :) If I were interested in operations, where would be a useful place to determine the what, how and why? -- John

    MicroTrain Database

Ahh... (light coming on)... Have you checked out this page? http://www.micro-trains.com/data_bases.htm The Sorted "N Scale Release" It doesn't go back too far (starts at Dec 2001), but the Unsorted one is 30 pages of mish-mash. There is a link at the bottom of the page to download a MS...

    Some of my W.I.P.

Not sure, but she does have fairly long hair which gets everywhere. Odd thing is her father was all black and her mom all white. She had the best color of the litter. Didn't get a chance to work on the mercantile today...I went on a locomotive hunt instead :D -- John

    Some of my W.I.P.

It was a simple wash of acrylic paint. I'll try going it over with just some water and a sponge and see what happens. It's been a long time since I've done much modeling. The dog is a German Shepherd. I was playing around with the camera a while back and got a good picture of a snoot lick :)

    Some of my W.I.P.

GODZILLA ATTACKS! My 7 year old son wanted to try painting something, so he decided to paint one of his dinosaurs. He selected a yellow one, and I helped him give it a coat of white to act as a base coat. He then decided that it needed to be orange, so he tried painting it one evening. Then...
