Howl's Moving Castle - Epson Freebie

Heeelp! Inner workings confuse me! I can't figure how the wing power bar ( the thick tube and plate on page 2) fits - the three tabs at the front go where? And how do the wing spars fit to it? The central body has gone together OK. I added internal tabs to the lower tapering section. I found...

Howl's Moving Castle - Epson Freebie

It's not a race.... I just thought this was a big step for me. Doing it in public might keep me going. The model looks like a ramshackle build will be in keeping and in this medium it looks right as well. There are instructions in English? Now he tells me. Link please I need all the...

Howl's Moving Castle - Epson Freebie

This is probably nuts me trying this but after I was directed to it by the Internet Finds section I just had to have a go. Given the subject I think I will have no entendre problems here. There was some debate going on as to whether this is a rip but it is the flyng version seen at the end of...

    Haruhi build

I too was taken aback - if there ever there was a need for a touch up then this is it. The girdle joint is best done one at a time - probably with just the top of the thighs as it is very narrow in the crotch. The legs do go together well... I can't help it the entendres just keep comming...er...

    Haruhi build

You can do what? Doh! I've actually moved on to do Aru as I had printed her out first and then went all wobbly. Now I'm feeling far too confident but I haven't reached the hands yet - and not doing as much folding and butt fitting much as I can. If I survive that I might come back and...

    Haruhi build

Support? I missed the supports out, there's one through the elbow and I didn't use the head one either; the under chin sat on the neck tabs folded inwards. You've made a better job of the ears and tongue than I did. I left them till last and they were very fiddly as a result. You have the same...

    Haruhi build

I have had a go at this one as Aru is just plain scary. I managed this a lot better that I deserved. I printed out the files as is with ink jet pinter on very ordinary A4 paper. I got the crotch slightly wrong ( a general lack of experiance there) miss-matching the front part to the top...

    Pepakura tutorial

Thanks Gearz Your reponse when I pointed out the Cellistia and Orbiter meshes to you gave me great pleasure. If you do tutorials in that style I think many would be inspired. If you write from a true heart you should not worry about literacy skill. This forum is home to many true hearts...

    Pepakura tutorial

Well it depends were you start from - the core of the program the data format can be expanded simply and the overall design makes it easy to add. Control-wise it is a simple addition select->edge, edit-> cut and transform-> unfold. I know what you mean though, UMC2 doesn't do some of the earlier...

    Pepakura tutorial

.abc? I have a bit of experience decoding and translating 3d files. If you could send me some files I'll see what I can do - if you have a screen shot of what the model looks like - that helps me recognise what transforms I have wrong. If I have any success I'll add it to UMC2 which already...

    USS Tarawa LHA1 1/200

Free Filler? Could you use the polystyrene foam blocks that comes in packaging of electrical goods? The foam could be cut with a hot wire and you could get the hull shape using card formers for the guide. It would be good to recycle the stuff.

converting flight sim air craft to card models

Funnily enough... I have a utility which can read some of the Microsoft flight sim .mdl files and output the models in several formats including metasequoia (.mqo) files. I have just added it to the Parts Bin/Tools part of the forum. Fill yer boots!

HMS Norfolk Type 23 frigate 1/200

John Thanks for that. I got the Nimitz from there but I can't log into the forum bit at the moment. Cookies uncooked or something. I shall try again later. I hope I can find the solution.

HMS Norfolk Type 23 frigate 1/200

I was intrigued by the use of expanded foam to help shape hulls and sizable structures. This is probably a silly question but can the model be effectively water-proofed? Just found a 1/700th Nimitz paper model...and at 1/350th with Tamiya aircraft (excuse 1) it would make decent R/C model...

HMS Norfolk Type 23 frigate 1/200

Perhaps you could fit the "Kryten" gun they are trialing on HMS York?

HMS Norfolk Type 23 frigate 1/200

OK I have starting chopping this model up as I have several uses for it breaking it down into hull, lynx, bridge etc. I've cut out the names and pennants as I intend to replace them with bitmaps. Unfortunately the mqo conversion has mixed up the colours bit I will be re-painting it anyway...

HMS Norfolk Type 23 frigate 1/200

I have a way of removing some of the detail e.g. railings, arials, the helicopter, ships name etc and break it down into components if you wish. As fresh .mqo files you could reduce the polygons from there.

HMS Norfolk Type 23 frigate 1/200

There is an .lwo model of a type 23 here http://www.lwg3d.org/v3/meshes.php?cat=13 Free download and metasequoia can read it.

Barry Could you tell me where you got the plans of HMS Eskimo from? Is it from a Russian site? Thanks
