One note on flextrack-When doing curves it is best to first solder the straight sections together befor laying the track around a curve. by doing this you will avoid a variety of problems. Just trust me on this one OK :)

I think even if it were not dead you will really like the features of the Tech 4 series . Momentum, braking etc on the 240 and proportional tracking will blow you away if youve never used anything but a standard power pack. :)
