Stand up, be counted and be proud, HOers!

I took one look at that homepage and saw "Star trek". That was enough for me!:D Are they just the same as portrayed in that episode of The Simpsons? "BI-MON-SCI-FI-CON" and all that. And my Brother has the cheek to call ME a nerd!

Well, there is another discussion forum that I contribute to that has the same format as this one. So I reckon you need to get your chosen image down to 100x100 pixels. Hope that helps. Alan.:thumb:

You Know Your A Train-a-holic When

Train-a-holic? Does all this mean that all of you are addicted to Trainahol? Don't you know the Queen's English? (She is? Oh, right!) I consider myself to be something of a general transport nut. Trains, Boats, Planes, Trucks, Vans. I just like to present things in model form, as...

Stand up, be counted and be proud, HOers!

Hey, I have enough trouble with OO modellers. If you guys feel you are being displaced by N-gaugers, you could always come to the UK.:D :D :D

What Scale and Gauge do you run?

Hmm, wierd isn't it? The most widely supported scale in the world and yet in Britain, it has less of a following than cheese rolling! (All brits on this forum would probably know about this). All because of OO scale modellers who have been following a compromised scale for so many...

    HO Monorail?

Just looking through the old threads and found this (bored, you know!). Anyway, I remember seeing on my travels an Italeri kit for a German "Transrapid" Monorail in HO. Although it was a static model, imagine if it could be motorised, using the same system of magnetic levitation that the...

What Scale and Gauge do you run?

    TV/Railroad Accuracy

Seeing this thread reminds me of the times when I watch "Goldeneye" on TV. The "Soviet" locomotive was in fact a heavily disguised British Rail class 20!:D

    Were you from...?

I'm a bit confused. When you said where you from, did you mean where I live, or how I got to this site? Oh well, I'll mention both. As my profile says, I am from a large market town called Bicester (Pronounced bista), which is approximately 15 miles north of Oxford (Home to loads of colleges...

Horizon Hobby Distributors, the Death of Athearn

It's been like that in the UK for some years now. All the famous British names now being produced in China, to "reduce costs" claim the companies. Boost profits more like! I used to work for a swiss electronics company that have their UK headquarters in my home town. I worked in their...

    Successful ballasting

You live and learn. Whilst reading a copy of "Model Rail" last night, I found this tip submitted by a Francis Merrit: "Ballasting track: I've had a lot of trouble keeping the track free of stray bits of ballast, and once inadvertantly glued in place, they are a bit of a problem. I've found...

    Successful ballasting

Does anyone on the forum have any quick, easy, and effective methods of applying ballast to trackwork? I tried putting ballast on a layer of PVA glue but it ended up being messy, and didn't cover the trackbed effectively. Any Ideas?

    Roadbed ?

Tracklaying What I do is stick the cork down to the baseboard using wood glue, and the fix the track down to the cork with strips of double-sided carpet tape. Easy. I looked at using Roco-Line, but it was a bit too expensive for my liking, so I use Peco code 75 track and turnouts. BTW, I was...

    Important new development?

    Container Transport

Marvellous! I really want some 20 footers as they take up a lot less space than the 30 and 40's I already have - and they're more common! The 30's are some AWM types I bought brand new and boxed at a local swapmeet. They only cost £2 each (About $3?) Bargain, I reckon! The 40's are from Herpa...

    Container Transport

Hello again. I was just wandering, do any of you out there model modern day container transport (Road as well as Rail)? And also, where could I get hold of some of those Athearn 20' Skeletal container trailers? How much do they retail for?

What do you want to achieve in the New Year

What to do? Where shall I begin?! Well, I reckon I should work on getting my bedroom layout completed (He says hopefully!), continue work on an exhibition layout that I have already built the baseboards for (When I get the space!), and perhaps help to promote British HO in the coming year as...
