Water Tower Mockup - Input, Please!

I'm no expert by a long shot but to me the spout looks a bit low. I think maybe the building on the base should be a bit higher. I was also wondering - water is really heavy (well, that much is) so should the walls line up with the outer edges of the tank structure so as to be able to...

    my first craftman kit

That's nice. Who makes the kit? I'm trying to work out what goes in the stalls - no doors so not horses, not dirty enough for coal. ?

    Keystone Shay NWSL upgrade

It's tiny! I like the weathering job you did on the MDC shay. Very nice.

    Bachmann next year

Hey lightbender, I meant that having the drive shaft down the centre if the loco is more sensible than hanging it off the side in the dirt (except for maintenance, which must be easier on a Shay) but I know what you mean. They must have all been up all night drinking homebrewed mountain...

    3-truck MDC Shay tender close-coupling

My bachamnn shay performs absolutely beautifully. You are correct in saying thet it is powered by the line shafts and that there are no other mechanical parts under the loco. It looks fantastic and makes the MDC shay look a bit silly.:( Wiith regards to what you were saying about shays...

Just curious, what camera are you using

hmmm. It didn't come out that well. It was a jpg. I shall need to try and find some tips on how to post images successfully. Hint hint;)

Just curious, what camera are you using

Thought i'd show you this anyway It has been scaled to get it under 70kb using the GIMP which I have just downloaded so if it is wrong or looks rubbish then it is because I have only been using it for 5 mins and it is very nice but quite complex. But most importantly FREE!:D Anyway, it...

Just curious, what camera are you using

Hi Shamus, I did a quick Google on TV resolution and a figure of 1280x768 was given and that is for a 30" LG plasma flat screen (yours for only £2037.39 if you are interested). You can get smaller TVs with the same resolution but these are High Resolution TVs. This only gives an overal...

    Trouble at Cabin Branch

They hydrocal powder will eventually go off though. Air gets into the bag and brings moisture with it. This reacts with the hydrocal. Eventually so much of the hydrocal will have reacted that the rock castings will be brittle and friable. You can't do anything about it other than...

Just curious, what camera are you using

35mm Yipeeeee! Digital cameras are all very well but I use a 35mm camera for a number of (I think) very good reasons. Before I go off on one - Shamus asked why there weren't very many (if any) examples of 35mm camera work on this thread. Probably because (like me) they have a really nice...

    3-truck MDC Shay tender close-coupling

I don't think there will be a problem using a draw bar with 2 pivots. The bachmann three truck shay uses a drawbar with a pivot at each end and doesn't have a problem waddleing (mine is 5 months old). I would be suprised if using just the lineshaft to the back truck would work. On my 2...

    Relco Track cleaner

I am pretty sure that you absoluletly cannot use high frequency track track cleaners with DCC. The high frequency can appear as a data signal to the decoders and totally screw them up!!!!!!!!! Neil

    Train Movie on TV

It's a good film. If it is the one i think it is (and i think it is if you see what i mean!) then it is good fun. The thing that bugged me a bit was that the two of them jump on to the roof of a passenger train that is being pulled by a USRA 0-8-0. If you want to keep an eye out for it...

    Bachmann next year

 I really want an HO climax. I have always thought that mechanically they made more sense than the Shays (although I do admit to owning a MDC 2-truck shay and a Bachmann 3-truck shay ;) ) It looks like we'll be waiting a wee while so I'm going to have to build myself a class A...

    scratchbuilt Climax

Nice climax, I was wondering if they ever made any standard gauge class A Climaxes (Climaxi?). I was admiring this: http://www.mrollins.com/climaxpix.html in HOn3 and was wondering if something like that would be appropriate in standard gauge. cheers, Neil
