Hi all, I was looking at the JSC website and noticed that they have a brand new kit out for a WW2 German H-39 class "super battleship," dubbed the "Grossdeutschland." Only one H-39 was ever laid down by Germany and construction never really went anywhere because of other wartime needs...

I've done a bit of digging and found the following note on Yamato's rudders: http://www.mwci.org/shiplist/shiplist-notes.html Apparently, the 'R' Class as built all had secondary rudders as well, but they were later removed. AJ

Thanks, Barry! I followed your advice on the Yuki Yuji thread about doubling the waterline and main deck plates and tip for cutting out the masts. I do plan on building YY's Kirov, but right now I think I want to take a break from the 1:700 scale and try something a bit bigger... like one of...

If money is not an issue, I would probably go with the HMV kit plus the elaborate photo-etch set... especially after seeing what Scorpio could accomplish with it! :D As you say, the instructions are supposed to be wonderful and the level of detail that can be achieved is bound to cause anybody...
