    Not to scale. But

This is I believe an L&N or UP trestle that has been “beautified”. It is located in a part of Memphis called Mid-Town, the of the Yuppie area where they buy the 100 year old homes and sink big money in the updating everything. I know because my Daughter has one.

Seen any good structures to Model anywhere

I thought this would be of interest to some of you who model the present or there about. The name is real and it is makes one wonder how it came to be. A strange name for a spice factory. Anyhow I am a sucker for “Orange” I just love those tanks.

Mystery Item -or- I don't know what this is!

It could be the remains of a packing hook used to replace the packing pads or waste in friction journal boxes.

Back before Amtrak took over the IC would run a big lash-up of say 4-6 locos to pull the City. Of say 4 locos I might have 2 of the 8 engines running and maybe if I was lucky I could get 2 steam generators going. Now that was funny looking!

    Question on foam rubber

Questions: When cutting up foam rubber to put in a blender to make flocking, how do you get rid of the static electricity???? My wife wiped fabric-softener on her hands and it seemed to help. Now how would it be to put say a drop or two in the paint or water or whatever liquid you use in the...

    Wiring help please

Gang if the anti-oxidant you are talking about is the balck goo that you put on aluminum wire, forget it! It is the kind of stuff that will be around for years and then some. It is a greasy stuff that you can't completely wipe off anything. I know because I have Aluminum wire in my house (built...

    Unknown Track Device

The FRA has a rule about de-rails, I forget the exact wording but any track that has any access to a shop or work facility must have these. On the IC (CN) if work has to be done on the main line or somewhere like that portable de-rails that clamp to the rail have to be placed 300 (I believe)...

From what I remember it is pretty much like Memphis. Why not a torn down building with rubble or just the hollow foundation.

    Inside Roundhouse

I found this picture in some old Union files. It is a picture of the inside of Johnston Roundhouse from about 13 stall facing 20 stall. I would guess it was taken in the early 60's, because it looked just like that when I came to work in 65. Thought some of you building Roundhouses would...

I thought I really found something!

On our latest trip last week and the first in the new GMC we rounded a curve coming out of Kinmundy Il and bam. Right in front of us was a perfectly preserved wooden water tower. We had been following a some rails for a long time I think they were Central Pacific because I saw on one of the...

    What if......

At Ic's Johnston yard, I have heard the old men say that a brakeman a day was killed humping. I'm sure that was an over statement. But then who knows. It could have been that bad.
