    New plan - opinions?

There would be no problem running F or GP units andshort trains of 40' cars around that radius. Just don't try running SD70s and 89' Autoracks. Cheers David

Santa Fe MDT Plymouth 0-6-0 question.

Sort of. The J.D. Fate Company of Plymouth, OH (aka Plymouth Locomotive Works) made over 7500 small industrial locos with innovative hydrostatic torque converter drive. The MDT model was made in in versions from 25 to 45t with 4 or 6 wheels and for several gauges. They also built 50-60t DEs...

    Layout help needed

It's (just) possible in 11'6" with some rearrangement but there are a couple of 3% gradients. Still plenty of room for industries and a turntable. Cheers David

    Layout help needed

A while back I drew up the East Bay Belt Line (one of Linn Westcott's original 101 Track Plans) and then modified it to N scale in the same space. It's 15' x 7" and could certainly be compressed to fit. Even if compressed to 11'6" long there is still plenty of space to add stations and...

    N Scale Switchers?

I concur about the Life Like Proto-N SW8. I have a 1 year old SW9 and the new SW8. I'm very happy with both but the Proto-N mech is fantastic. I agree that it's almost equal to Kato quality. Close to the top of my shopping list it the Small Scale Logistics GE 44t. I'm waiting until they get...

    New shelf layout design/build thread

Family and friends in the military tell me it's not always easy to work out the location of a military base just by looking at the buildings. The shade of grass around the runways may help, but the absence of grass doesn't necessarily tell you which country you're in! In other words, if you...

    Nn3 track

Peco makes Nn3 flex. They advertise it as N-6.5. Micro Engineering code 55 turnouts can be narrowed relatively easily. The skills required to do this are not much more than you'd need to build track by hand. If you intend to make a lot of turnouts it's probably cheaper to take the plunge and...

    PRR G4a

I have the Commonwealth Railways drawings for the G4a (known as the CA class Down Under) and several photos of them in service. This still doesn't help finding a suitable basis for a model. I had a look at the Micro Ace 4-6-0s and the driving wheels are a bit small. Cheers David

    PRR G4a

I'm interested in building a PRR G4a 4-6-0 as two of them were sold to the Commonwealth Railways in Australia in 1942. Can anybody recommend a suitable RTR 4-6-0 which could be used for a kitbash? Cheers David

    CNR H-6-c

G'day all, I'm a new member from Down Under. I'm interested in building a CNR H-6-c 4-6-0 as eight of them were sold to the Commonwealth Railways in Australia in 1942. The Bachmann Spectrum CNW high boiler 4-6-0 is recommended as an excellent starting point for an H-6-c in HO, but this...
