    Gauge Boxcar-World Tour '03

Travelling boxcar Can I be participating in this Model Railroad Adventure Around the World? If so, how would you guys find out my postal adress and send me the boxcar? It would be a pleasure to take some pictures of it in Barcarena (or if it is in shape then, in my German layout - sorry...

    All sorts of Stations

Thanks guys... I'm placing some new photos from the model and the prototype building... I'll start by the model. This is Barcarena Station (as a matter of fact, a "depot" as you call them) in the suburban Line from Sintra to Lisbon, about half the way. This place is between Kilometres 16,000...

    All sorts of Stations

One more shoot from Sintra, this time with a steam locomotive. It was a special trip, in the birthdate of this line. The locomotive, series 0180 from the Portuguese Railways, in concrete the 0186, is an Henshel, and is one of the locomotives making the touristic trains now in Douro Line...

    All sorts of Stations

One more shoot, this time from Sintra Station... this is the terminus of the suburban line from Lisbon to Sintra. And back to the overhead wires:D

    All sorts of Stations

Now, one without overhead: Pero Negro, in the Oeste (West) line, from Cacém to Torres Vedras... still Lisbon suburbia (about 60 km from the Capital)... this is our portuguese definition of a Depot... a small station with only a few passengers.

I'm needing help to start my layout

Yes, the red line was thought to be a support for scenery, dividing just the things between Portugal and Germany... yes I know... I studied geography and we don't have borders... but imagine so... :D I think the oval at the right would be really the portuguese part... and then I would have...

I'm needing help to start my layout

Thank you for your ideas TR, The idea of having different levels was decorating one part just like our Portugal is, i.e. only one main line, few houses, some trees... things like those. That would allow having a staging yard in one of the deeper levels, or something like that... About the...

I'm needing help to start my layout

That's right. As I said this is the standard curve for Marklin M layouts. I'm not using only this track, since I also have the wider radius of curve. The radius are R1 = 360 mm; R2 = 474,4 mm (what a strange measure, but...) I don't have curves any wider. The straight lines are almost all...

I'm needing help to start my layout

I forgot to mention it. My AC layout is currently H0 Marklin 3-rail from the 50's... that metal ballasted line (M track)... the standard curve is 360 mm... I must see the entire catalogue about the turnouts and the rest of the curves. I have a small idea of what I want but I want some...

I'm needing help to start my layout

I forgot just one thing. I have a space with 3.5 meters per 3.20 metres. I want to build my layout just like an U figure or somewhat close to this, since I have a pillar in the midlle of this distance. My main idea is if you look to the front you have the pillar in the middle. Behind that...

I'm needing help to start my layout

I'm in a trouble that needs some help and more than one single head thinking. I'm (re)starting the works in my layout, Since I have AC e DC locomotives, I'm going to have two separated circuits, of course. Now, my idea is to recriate a portuguese scenery with DC, since I only have portuguese...

    Photos of my maquete

Germany's nearest to us in Portugal then U.S. (my layout is mostly german, too) and with a Marklin effect. Something people don't see very often in the U.S. (or so I think)... I must say once again... great work!

My maquete is small so i have a problem in not appearing windows or wall

Although we are side by side, Spanish and Portuguese languages are far different... In Portugal we give such importance to some linguistic matters that no one else around the world would care. But we have great difficulties to learn new languages. If you're portuguese-born to a...

My maquete is small so i have a problem in not appearing windows or wall

"Maquete" is the portuguese word for "layout". In Portugal we refer to "Maquete" or "Maqueta" as a complete layout of something (buildings, trains, etc.). We also use the word "Modelo" which stands for "Model" referring to a single pince of a layout or some isolated reproduction of something...

Train shows, same old stuff or ?

I'll start answering your questions: 1. Over a 1-year period, I usually travel to 3/4 shows; 2. A stand alone buy-sell-trade, promoted by an association is always different than an exhibition, at least here in Portugal. An association invites its members to buy/sell/trade items and that's...
