Build: USS North Carolina, JSC, 1:400

Next each of the 3 sections is flipped over and formers are inserted. The "formers" in this case are simply folded card pieces with glue tabs. This picture shows a sequence of formers going in.

Build: USS North Carolina, JSC, 1:400

This is a simplifed hull design. It uses only card stock, there are no laminated formers. The hull is built in 3 sections and later joined. The first steps are to gather parts that form the bow section. Then do the same for the stern section, and finally the middle.

Build: USS North Carolina, JSC, 1:400

Getting back into the build thread mood again! This time I try my first ship. I'm starting small with a relatively "simple" 1:400 model, though even this simple model has a good many fiddly little bits! I've selected the obvious choice for someone born and raised in North Carolina, old number 55.

Modelik "Flower" Class Corvette - 1/200

Wasn't it Chris Coyle that had an extensive build thread here a while back on this ship? I don't know if you looked it up or whether he experienced any of this. Maybe a PM to him to see if he has a good workaround? Rick

Titanic model on eBay - hurry!

Welcome! I've seen the start of your thread on Kartonbau and it's going to be something else! How big will it be? It must be quite large, judging from the price! (~ $48 US) Rick

    New posts button problems

On a related note, has anyone else noticed that clicking the little down arrow "Go to first new post" button beside threads often puts you somewhere in the middle where you've already read? Could this be related to NOT clicking the 'mark forums read' option? Rick

    Halinski Mustang P51-D

I've wondered about in-store copying as well. I called Staples to inquire about what they can do and they will copy a Legal size page to card stock in color for $1.09 a page. But they might balk when they see what it is, and I would not blame them. It would help to have a friend in the...

    Halinski Mustang P51-D

I'm also not happy with the gloss in some of the parts on this one (I have it too, drool...). But I can see WHY they did it - to keep the same paper throughout to save paper. My idea is I'd probably work from scans on regular paper for the stuff that should not be glossy, like interior stuff...

    Halinski Bismarck 1/100 Scale

Wow, this will be fun to watch. What a monster! You printing yourself or having it done outside? I'd imagine as big as the stock 1:200 version is, quite a few parts would be larger than anything a normal home print could do and will require a bunch of splitting parts into pieces! Rick

    1:400 GPM Hiryu

This is a great project and those little planes are just too cute - and so cleanly done! Outstanding! Rick

    POTD 20th Aug

This build is just otherworldly, that's the only word I can think of. Even his close-up shots don't look like a model, much less a card model. It is truly humbling to look at this. RIck
