    On the Siding

Thanks for the nice comments, everyone. :) Here's a flatcar with a sled load on the same siding. Its donkey is in the shop being refitted... ;)

Ballasting Track On The PoorFork RR

Another excellent how-to from one of the N-scale masters! The best part is that there's a lesson here for HO modelers also. Thanks, Charlie! :)

    Lumber Company Houseing

Jimmy, you've got a great looking scene there! I love the "rough-cut" appearance of the lumber on your structures. Very nicely done!

    Do you run "local" railroads?

For a long time (years!), I tried modeling prototype roads - some of which I had never laid eyes on outside of a magazine - and in parts of the country I had never seen. It just didn't work, at least not for me. When my current layout is finished, I will have two railroads, the Central...

    Stonewallin': Finished at last!

Well, if you're not already nuts, you will be if you wind up like me!  :D :D But thanks for the nice words, Charlie. :)

    Stonewallin': Finished at last!

Again, thanks, everyone. Val, Brett has already asked for a full set of photos to post in SW's website "Gallery." I've got to burn them to a CD and then they're on their way.

    Stonewallin': Finished at last!

Thanks for the compliments, everyone. :) Ian, I model in HO scale. As for the water.... I used a method for making my water that I first used about 20+ years ago on another riverfront scene. It's not complicated, but it is time consuming because of drying times. In a nutshell, after...

    Stonewallin': Finished at last!

Thanks, Chris. I didn't take any wide-angle shots of the whole diorama, so I don't have any to post. The overall dimensions, however, are 16"D x 19"W. This ultimately (hopefully) will become part of a 32" x 48" module.

    Stonewallin': Finished at last!

And finally, the little green garage... This diorama is the first of three "scenes" that will wind up on a yet-to-be-built waterfront module. The other two include a town behind Foss' Landing and a transfer dock for the CM&S just to the right of Foss'.

Is a clean backyard a sign of a sick mind?

    Stonewallin': Finished at last!

Ol' man Foss is very particular about how and where his rowboats are stored. :D

    Stonewallin': Finished at last!

Well, we climbed out of the rowboat and up into a tree...

    Most of the complex.

    Stonewallin': Finished at last!

Another view from the rowboat. :D

    Stonewallin': Finished at last!

For those who remember a thread I started last winter ( !) about adding a handcarved stone wall to a diorama base, I have finally finished the diorama. It's a combination of Sierra West's "Foss' Landing" kit, some scratchbuilt structures, and details from several different sources. Here are...
