Another beautiful photo, Paul. :thumb: I really like the way you layer textures and use a variety of materials in your scenery. Nice job!

    Weiry & Sons

Thanks, folks. Val, here is the final shot of the whole "kit." This is Weiry & Sons freight transfer shed and came as part of the original kit back in '83.

    Weiry & Sons

Val, this is a scan of the only other photo I have of the model. I took it 20 years ago, and the model was on a completely different layout than what I have now.

How to get this weathered look? (tar paper)

Here is a photo of another structure I built with a tarpaper roof. I used essentially the same procedures I outlined above except I did not paint the paper first. It's just dusted with raw umber and gray chalks.

How to get this weathered look? (tar paper)

Hi, Jesper, I just saw your PM and question. Sorry I didn't respond sooner. I never remember to scroll to the bottom of the homepage to see if I have messages.  First off, I used two different materials for the tarpaper on my freight houses in the thread you cited...

    Bringing Up The Rear

Charlie, that's a really neat shot. I like the low camera angle - it's far more realistic than the usual helicopter shots most model photographers seem to take. And that autumn scenery.... :thumb:

    Weiry & Sons

Thanks, Charlie and Stu. I sincerely appreciate the compliments and comments. Stu, on a structure I recently scratchbuilt I also scratchbuilt one set of windows. I started to wonder half way into it if I needed to have my head examined. They came out "ok," but it's not something I'll do...

    Weiry & Sons

Thanks for the very generous compliments, everyone. Val, because of where the model is placed on my layout, this is as close as I can get for photos. I do have a closeup of Weiry's freight storage shed I can post, but it's on my other computer at home. I also have a photo of the model (on an...

    Weiry & Sons

Thanks, guys. Shamus, I wish I could claim it's scratchbuilt. Actually, it's a Builders in Scale kit. I built it in 1983. It's still one of my favorite structures.

    Break Time

Thanks, Tommy. Arlaghan, the chain link fence is fairly easy to make. The frame is made from pieces of wire ACC'd together over a simple template. The fence fabric is cut from bridal veil. I usually dry brush some rust colored paint over the material before cutting the fencing to size. That...

    Break Time

Jon must work in management, because he knows exactly why only one worker at a time gets a break. They congregate, light 'em up, and 10 minutes becomes 30 or 60 minutes. :D :D Kinda like high school kids with hall passes to the bathroom.... :D :D :D Thanks for the compliments, everyone. :)
