    Well Ready To Post pics.

Great layout! :thumb: Certainly making progress! :D EDIT: Okay, I'm not totally sure, but what scale is it? Hehehe. I noticed the Atlas Depot is a tad small for the scale... the guy is hitting the celing! I assume the layout is HO, right? Anyway, keep up the good work. Love the photos.

Thanks for all the responses guys. As to the brick on the station... I don't have an airbrush, so I guess I'll just hand-paint it like I did this structure. Thanks for the tips on colors. Done. Yes, revandy, I noticed the article in MR! I thought "It couldn't have come at a better time!". I...

    Come along on our adventure

Hmm... sounds like a horrible experience. I try to stick with Elmer's Rubber Cement, Testor's Liquid Cement, or Superglue. Never had that happen. Yes, I do look forward to hearing about the boys. If it helps, I'm only 15! You guys are doing a great job so far--very inspiring!

Wow! Gracias for the comments. :thumb: Cabdriver... I used the same ballast I used for track, WS Fine Light Gray ballast. It really looks natural under the pipes, and makes a smooth transition from the roadbed to the loading-rig thingie. :D (You guys have any tips for applying decals to...

Thanks guys. I finally finished the oil depot! Hoorah. Only took the whole weekend... It looks good, so of course, PICTURES!!! Here's the tanks. Painted with a metallic color, but not weathered 100%. I painted the pipes individually, and that was an excruciating task. It took...

What do you listen to when modeling/running trains?

Very cool. Unfortuantely, I'm not lucky enough to have an Ipod! I usually turn the nearby TV onto "Party Favorites" music channel. Or listen to a CD with various railroad songs on it. Heck, even sometimes local radio stations (like 93.3 WFLZ, the Hit Music Channel). It depends on my mood...

Wow. Thanks again! Well, today I made tremendous progress. I got the loading dock completed (minus any paint job... haven't decided yet), and got about halfway done on the oil depot. I assembled all the oil storage tanks and painted them a metallic silver. Moving on, I basically painted each...

    Come along on our adventure

Everyone, I hope I too didn't offend anyone with my, um, parallel rant. Maybe I just needed to express myself--and it certainly sounds like we all have been there before. cabdriver, thank you for your kind words and gratitude towards my suggestions. BTW, you don't have to take...

    Come along on our adventure

Cabdriver, I agree with you, 100%. I mean, I check the gauge over 5, yes, 5 times a day to see if anyone has responded to threads that attract my interest! And, most of the time, there aren't any, unless it's a reply from someone kind enough to have already posted. I probably should keep...

    Come along on our adventure

Cabdriver, Looks great. I may not be an expert modeler, by no means, but here are my opinions: 1.) Leave the buildings flush up against the road, I think. There is enough room for 'parallel parking', correct? That is what most small towns had in the 60s and 70s. This way you don't have to...

Thanks Matthyro. I'll pick up some Burnt Sienna next time. What about the roof? Black? Or is regular black too dark? ("Licorice" in FolkArt terms.) Oh, what FolkArt color would you recommend for the loading dock? (Concrete color-ish.) I would use, well, Floquil Concrete, but I don't have any...

Okay, as you may know from my posts around The Gauge, I'm building some structures for my layout. All three arrived Parcel Post via USPS today! Wonderful Timing. They are: Walther's Cornerstone City Station Walther's Cornerstone Interstate Fuel & Oil Depot Pikestuff 17 Loading Dock This is...

    Station Complex

Wow. Thanks... LIRR- Right now, not even the main line has seen much traffic. Oil droppings and railroad 'crappola' will be added at a later stage, including the sidings. :thumb: Jac's- Great tips. For scenery and such, I use those cheap acrylic paints from JoAnne's and WalMart. I use the...

    Shelf Layout

Okay. I was just wondering, because I'm trying to do the same thing. Although, I'm not sure I could handle building a scale lumber crossing! :D I really loved your layout of the Pensacola and Gulf Railway. It was a unique setting that I have yet to see anywhere else. I certainly admire...

    Station Complex

Thanks guys. I still have to solve the painting-the-cardboard dillema. Yes, I had thought about using a spray can, the Tamiya Color aerosol cans at my LHS, but I won't be able to get there in the near future. So, I was trying to find an alternative. Keep the ideas coming! :D EDIT: If you...

Great shots J&A. I weathered the track before I layed it down, and I was so thrilled with the results. I used Tamiya Paints (an aerosol can), and used a flat brown. I did the project outside on my driveway. The Atlas track improved 100% from the black plastic to the brown. You can see the...

Just for fun, how strong is your engine?

On a club layout, I have gotten my Atlas Amtrak Dash 8-32BHW to haul 54 cars. We ran out of cars, so I don't know its maximum limit, but it's a stunningly strong locomotive. (With impeccable ditch lights to boot! :thumb: )

J&A, I just wanted to show you this. Here is WS gray ballast used on my track, and the color is well portrayed by the camera. (yes, it's HO scale...) It doesn't look half bad. It's a little monotone, so I'm going to get some black ballast/dirt and sprinkle it sparingly. For a first...

    Station Complex

Okay. I'm creating a road crossing (first time!) and am going to see what works best for pavement, which I might apply to the station area. I'm not starting anything in that area yet until the station arrives. (Sometime this week, then I have to put it together.) I have some new pictures...
