Re-lettering and weathering a Steam Locomotive

Great job Tom. That looks awesome, quite a realistic overhaul. I too have always admired camelbacks... and we can always make exceptions. I love how you detailed the driving wheels. It really makes me think twice about touching my like-new 2-8-0. (Although I couldn't nearly pull off a finish...

    Road Signs

Okay. Well, the styrene I was planning to use is like .015" or something. Maybe I'll just glue the paper directly to the toothpick. Great links, CN1. However, anyone know where I can get American 1950 highway (rural area) roadsigns? The link on one of those pages is nonexistant. Thanks...

    Road Signs

Well, I have another good ol' question! I've been doing a ton of work on the layout lately. A burst of enthusiasm, you may call it. My recent project has been a road and its crossing over the BRB mainline. Pictures will come this weekend, along with a post in the HO forum to show my progress...

Walthers Cornerstone Kits - Quality ??

So far, as a fairly recent modeller, I have been very impressed with the Walther's Cornerstone Kits. They are well worth it. Take for example Interstate Fuel & Oil, which I just completed. I loved that kit for the reason that it is so flexible, and can be arranged to fit almost any space...

    Amtrak banked rupt?

Well, first off, Amtrak has never made money, isn't making money, and will probably never make money. There are many points of view, from many different people. It's not so much they'll go bankrupt, but rather, they will have no money to operate. According to Bush's budget for 2006, Amtrak...

    Come along on our adventure

Looks great Cabdriver. I love Main Street, with the road, parking lots, and cars! You are making considerable progress. I admire what you've done so far. Keep up the good work. :thumb: As always, I look forward to updates. That gravel company area is really coming along.

It's Monday 3-13-05, Weekend modeling accomplishments

Hmm... Not too much progress. Work interfered, with my new job and everything. However, I did manage to fit a few more sections of the platform for Black River together, painted all the station parts (Walther's City Station) with Floquil Paints (by brush...), and got around to assembling the...

    Diesel railfanning on my layout

Looks great Ralph. Love the locomotives... and especially that knock-'em-dead consist of GP38-2's! :thumb:

    Station Complex

LIRR- Sorry it has been awhile. But no, there isn't any paint on the tracks. Those, I keep clean and un-weathered. ;) Okay, the reason I revive this thread is..duh... UPDATE! I got 6 sheets of .040" styrene for the platform, and an extra pack of .015" for the road. (They were out of...

    Need some ideas, boys

Val- a sort of off-topic question... but in that scenery picture... How do you create the roads/area between the crane supports on the track? Styrene? Water putty? Just wondering. Seeing what different methods before I choose one. Your's looks so realistic. Great job, both of you, and...

    Livesteaming

Oh, hehehe. I knew that. You mean the GE Dash 9? If that case--yes. We have a member with one, painted in SP. Beautiful locomotive. We have a whole bunch of people and engines (and I think the ORIGINAL MCC loco, in black) coming down the 15-20, our annual meet. I mean, our track is...

J&A, That looks awesome! I love the tanks. (I take it they're coffee cans? or something similar?) Very creative! I know some companies make seperate window and door castings you can choose, and you can apply these to you scratchbuilt structures. You could use those little coffee straws as...

Livesteam, I do not. However, my friend owns a 4-4-2 Erie Atlantic, which I engineer all the time. So, in a way, it feels like mine! :thumb:

    Currrent Progress, Now what??

Awesome Connor! My layout is a little past your stage, but all these "start-up" layouts in reasonable spaces have really been an influence. I too have admired up_santafe's layout, it has amazing detail. Please keep up the wonderful progress--and look out, I might just steal some ideas! :thumb:

I, too, am into live steaming. (Specifically 7 1/2" gauge...) :D I volunteer at the Largo Central Railroad, one of the largest tracks in Florida. Our yearly meet is coming up in a week or two. www.lcrailroad.com

    Live Steam

I didn't realize there were others here into live steaming! I'm a member of the Largo Central Railroad, a 7 1/2" gauge, 1 1/2 scale railroad located in Largo Central Park, in Largo, Florida. We have 1.4 miles of track with tunnels and bridges galore. Since it's so big, here's a link to a...
