    IHC Mountain Repair

I had a look and found all 3 that I have. I guess you'll want the 6043 if you have the PC Mountain. Send me a "PM" with your address and I'll send it out to you no charge. I just noticed that the 4-8-2 cab doesn't have the little tabs at the back. I guess it was held on differently.

    IHC Mountain Repair

The IHC 4-8-2. 4-6-4, and 2-10-2 all share the same boiler and most of the parts are interchangable. I have 2 cabs available from prevoius kitbash projects.

Freight car of the week pt4

I think the first 3 with the sprung trucks are either kitbashed, or are Resin Kits. The rest are all P2K's.... The last 2, (GATX 17632 and IOX 2258) are mine. I like to use Intermountain code .088 wheels on tank cars because they are more visible. Mike Sowsun

Spawn of Chaos, I saw your YouTube video of your Big Boy on what looks like a very tight radius. Is it 18" radius? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WdL8LQKYDU

    Trucks roll too freely.

At my club layout we have a similar problem, but only in the winter. Most of our yards and industries are dead flat, but we have a large overhead gas fired furnance that heats the building. Everytime it cuts in, the free rolling cars below it go for a ride. In this photo you can see the furnace...

coupler height issues and wheel sizes

We all know that the car is too low. In fact he has many cars that are all low by the same amount. That is why we think the guage may be at fault. If you compare gauges, you can see that his IS different.

coupler height issues and wheel sizes

It looks like it is alright but, is it possible that your Kadee height gauge has not been assembled properly?

coupler height issues and wheel sizes

Most freight cars come with 33" wheels. Don't forget that if you use a larger diameter wheel, the height will only change by half of the difference in diameters. eg. Changing from a 33" (9.625mm) to a 36"(10.5mm) will only give you 0.437 mm more height. (10.5-9.625= .875( ( .875/2=...

    need Help indentifying this engine!

REA is the old company name for Aristocraft. Same company. The scale is 1:29 but it runs on G scale track which is 45mm. That is why many people include it in G scale. (45mm equals 4' 8 1/2" standard gauge in 1:32 scale) The whole G scale thing is a little confusing...

Taking digital pics of a model railroad tutorial ?

The top photo was shot with just overhead flourescent lighting as were the others. Maybe the shadow of the overhanging roof makes it look like the outdoors..... The Canon A530 has a "portrait" mode on the top. Sorry, I thoght maybe you were using that mode because you weren't able to get f8.0...

Taking digital pics of a model railroad tutorial ?

I have a similar Canon Powershot. DON'T use "close up" Mode. For close-ups, select the focus mode to "macro" (the little flower icon). You will be able to focus down to 2" in "Wide". Don't zoom in because you will lose the macro focus ability. You can always crop later if you want. Use...
