Yes, the museum is the former freight house and thanks for the info on the building. The basement of the frieght house is home to the local model railroad club. they had an open house that attracted 500 hundred vistors and they brought 100 locomotives to run on the layout.
I went to the local railroad model club's open house in the basement of the frieght depot and I am amazed at the work. Being new to the hobbie I quess maybe becoming a member would not be a bad idea. The paper said 500 people attended and brought 100 locomotives to run, not bad for a small town...
I was at the local histrorical museum on sunday and took a few pictures of the surround area. I hope you enjoy. The yard office is the only old B & O building left. Gone is the roundhouse, car shops, depot etc. just a modern terminal know.
Yes, but I am and Industrial Arts teacher by trade so this hobby fits my interest. It has has everything construction, eletricity, model building and you get to run the trains when you get finished with the other stuff.
Thanks For The Tip On Painting The Inside So Light Would Not Show Through, I Just Got Some Lights Yesterday But They Did Not Have Enough So I Will Wait To Finish The Lighting. But I Have Some Painting To Do. I Also Took The Suggestion On A Welding Flash I Can't Wait To See If It Works.
Got in the 50's today, I managed to have time to buy some mini lights for my roundhouse project as usual they did not have enough lights, but it is a start. Can you imagine radioshack only having three sets in the drawer.
I don't work at a factory but I teach at a school who's nickname is railroaders and the town has a csx yard here. The town is here because the B & O used it as a division point on it's way to Chicago. When in school I worked for a glass factory and loaded box cars.
My railroad is called cedarcreek because I did not want to use the B & O or CSX that has a yard here. The name sounded right for a made up railroad and the creek runs close to here.
I need 11 more. I have to convince my wife I really need them. I am trying to have my service terminal layout like the city I live in was like in the 30's to 50's. I choose not to do the 1900's because they had a 32 stall roundhouse then.
It is a kit from heljen, I wound up with extra windows because they use the same set no matter what the kit add on or stand alone. This is one stand alone and four add on kits. I plan on using this as the cornerstone of my layout. As I complete each phase I will send pictures.
