It strikes me since the passenger trains are largely composed of self-propelled electric cars , or drawn by electric locomotives , that you should look at MICRO-ACE's extensive line of such equipment.
I assume that you can kit bash and alter appliances, trim , paint , etc.
MICRO-ACE are...
LIVE OAK , PERRY , & GULF
The last mainline wood burning railroad was LIVE OAK, PERRY, & GULF ; that had wood burning pacifics hauling passenger trains through the Great Depression and into WW 2 . I believe service cutbacks led to self-propelled motor cars , through the end of passenger...
The paint scheme is fanciful, and the passenger equipment is not NA prototypes. Probably is UK, and if they are in LIMA cartons , they are probably theirs. LIMA made/makes many Australian locos , that were similar to NA prototypes in appearance, so these could also be from there.
Osgood-Bradley was in Worcester, Mass. They had merged into Standard Steel Car around the Great War , and with the creation of Pulman-Standard in 1930 they became the division manufacturing transit equipment until the plants closing in 1960. The passenger equipment known to modellers as" AF...
ERTL Diecasts
ERTL does not make 1:87 toys. They briefly entered the model railroading field in the late 90's with excellent plastic structural kits , and assembled versions of the structures as well as a group of prototypically correct 1930-50 freight cars in 1:87.
Alll were weathered ...
Bill:
By the way , are yor related to the late Bill Pontin , who was a Boston & Albany hogger, and Secretary of the Rail Photo Service.
Thank you, Peter Boylan
It looks like very fine modelling is going on . With respect to structures associated with MoW at bridge sites, they would be uncommon in North America. Generally, track gangs through the 1960s had sections of a Division to cover. In remote areas the ralroad would provide a house for the section...
VINTAGE REPRODUCTIONS
Vintage Reproductions, who's products are on sale at comprehensive model railroad stores, have been at this racket longer than any one else. They regularly advertize in NARROW GAUGE & SHORT LINE GAZETTE , as well as some non model railroad periodicals. They are not aerosol...
Very nice job , but you need valve gear. Mantua had a kit for it at one time, and maybe MODEL POWER has it , since they have taken over the line. They probably don't - so I might suggest that you look at Bowser, and MDC's offerings, to find one to adapt. Long time dealers often have old parts...
There are no plastic models of EBT power, save a resin doodlebug. Their trademark mikes and prairies have been made in fabricated brass models from the Orient in 'HO' scale. If you go to the WWWs for Mitchell's Family Store, the Caboose, and so forth , you will find them listed for resale...
DIESEL SPOTTER'S GUIDE
There is a soft cover book series by Jerry Pinkepack , published by Kalmbach called the DIESEL SPOTTERS GUIDE . You can get used editions cheaply from used book dealers on ABE,AddALL,ALibris, and similar bookdealer coöperative selling services. You are not interested in...
DJH currently has 3 Garratt kits in production. The largest prototype goes for around U.S. $600. They all follow the usual cast pewter with etched and cast brass components used by DJH for all the locos with Aichi mechanisms.
I have never had a reason to build a Garratt kit from them, but...
David asks if MethyAlchohol is the same as Denatured Alchohol ?
The answer is no, but methanol is part of many of the standard grades of denatured alchohol. SDAG-1 and SDAG-2 are 20 parts ETOH to 1 part Methanol and 2 parts of Methanol, respectively.
The number of standard...
Much depends upon the era, as well as the scale. In 'HO' ;Artitec used to make a smalll shipyard , but no longer produces it. They still offer crane related to marine shipyards/and docks. So does Kibri , and the U.S. maker Sheepscot has large moving cranes suitable for 19th century yards. Airfix...
Around the Room Alternative
Given your givens, I believe that you should give some consideration to around the room shelving layouts. One can get colossal run length , have the entire center room free if you wish and allow easy access for at least three levels of track by any wheel chair bound...
These services are not always proprietary. That is; Plasser and Theurer machinery is used by railroad contractors that are hired to examine geometry and grind rail lines. The UP , which is now SP, had some yellow units I saw in Idaho around a decade ago.
There are a bunch of model...
Dimensions and elevations
What are the overall dimensions of this layout? Are there changes in elevation? What is going on? I.E. is it a switching district? Or some complete line( Division, or other part of a Class 1 ) with passenger trains and through freights to staging?
Is their...
Have you thought of mounting switch machine controls on track diagram in fascia at this place. Incorporating lights to indicate direction of switch path (or as interlocked routes in series using rotary wafer switch(es))this is easiest way to go to impart information to operator<that I assume...
If you go to the Trolleyville site, which is on the list in the URL given above in the prior thread ,you will find instructions for constructing switches for use on street trackage. You also should look at Tillig's street trackage. As indicated in the original post , unlike Hartl and Orr girder...
