    Golden Valley module

At last, I got some (hobby) time. I've given the turnout a whack. I gave up using tieplates on this one. The reason is that I'm using the tongues as studs for the pickup shoe (when running in 3R mode). The tieplates (metal) would short circuit the whole thing since they connect between the...

    How I construct modules...

We already have a yahoo group for this :) (in swedish...) And we do all the suggested steps :) Here is a URL to some pics from our latest modular meeting that took place at a museum in Stockholm: ulf999/MMM/Meetings/TM_20080329 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

    How I construct modules...

Hi! The Peco Code 83 is about as low as you can go with the Marklin wheel flanges. I friend tried code 75 (I think it was) but on those one can hear the bouncing on the ties :) If you want 2/3 rail 'almost out of the box', I guess you can use Marklin k-track and cut of the metal parts that...

Nope, no opening doors. It's a Marklin. Trix has the same (full metal) for DCC.

Thanks [:)] A few more pics. I have now glued the other rail and ran some tests. It works!!! I have used PS D&RGW building brown to simulate rust (this is a spur, the mainline will be painted roof brown...) When more thing are in place (a few years from now... ) I will further weather the track...

 Thanks guys! Even thought it does look nice, I think it takes a bit more patience than I have. The next module/segment will be equiped with ME flextrack. Otherwise it'll take me a year to complete !

Tedious work I have now glued (CA glue) tieplates from PROTO:87 STORES AND ACCURATE MODEL RAILROAD TRACK EMPORIUM to my Micro Engineering Code83 rails Rail + tieplates glued down I also glued on some fishplates (joint bars), and used a sharp knife to scribe the rail suggesting rail lengths...

    Golden Valley module

Ties dyed, plaster cloth painted, some ground foam added and a little ballast glued down. A 'gravel road can also be seen. The dark brown road will later be an asphalt road. right now I just to make sure no white spots remain. When all track is ballasted, it's time to glue down the rails...

    Golden Valley module

Thanks for the encouragement :). I haven't seen handlaid tracks for Marklin either (perhaps some german sites with the correct googling might yield some hits...). For this trackplan, I needed curved turnouts with specific radius. The only way(?) to achieve this is to use either CV-curvables...

Yup, it's my first attempt with handlaying (I'm entering the dark side :) ). I have a few pages bookmarked with handlaying-for-dummies info :)

    Golden Valley module

Wooden ties glued down (some pre stained). Since I'm primarily running Marklin I had to add a 3rd rail (using staples soldered to a copper wire). The modules will also be DCC-compatible, so there will be some work with the turnout... :)

    Golden Valley module

Back to doing modules again after a break doing structures. Here's an overview of the eastern part of Golden Valley. It has a Freight House, a company house and a crossing shack and some roads... Next I'll add some plaster cloth, paint, ground foam etc
