    USS Tarawa LHA1 1/200

Do you think we need a bigger ship This is about 30% of the airwings carried by Tarawa getting a bit crowded on deck. You right lads some days it gets a bit mindless building this many. Thanks for the kind words.

40mm quad AA 40 mm quad mounting small pics so you can't see the faults (hopefully) 3rd pic is about actual size. Got to get Airbob to teach me how to roll tiny cones for barrel ends.

Chopper line Ch46 production line it is sort of evolving as I go along got to do something more with rotor heads.Takes 5 formers to hold the fuselage straight in the CH46 and a build time of about 6 hours I'm getting slo these days. @jasco @ bob glad you like it

Full hulls without too many tears

Turrets Added the turrets just to check again they are made 120 gsm (good quality copy paper) and are butt jointed together made stable by the floor plate and mounting 120 gsm + 160 gsm card seems to work. That is really my experiment over everything else is now one colour. Some 20mm and...

Full hulls without too many tears

Gearing revisited Seeing Bob's latest dazzle destroyers made me go back and give the Gearing a new coat of paint actually it should be on a Sumner class so it is not historically accurate fun though.

    USS Pennsylvania

Done that too many times maybe sand the thing flat don't worry about how it looks then use the dead plating as a base and put a 100 gsm layer over it. I used car spray to coat the hull frame on Tarawa it seems to work well. Try it on a piece of your own stock first though.

AV8a Quite pleased with looks of the AV8, shape is such you can get away with a lot sorry no closeups my borrowed camera is not up to it. Added some rolled cigarette paper lattice work to the masts and built the forward ops cabin which is held together with selotape sticky side down as glazing...

    USS Tarawa LHA1 1/200

Deck glued Not sure whether to blow a fanfare of trumpets or sit down and take deep breaths and take the pills but for better or worse it's laid and it looks reasonably flat needless to say the worst joint I have made is in it, tastefully covered in choppers. John in real life and on a good...

    USS Tarawa LHA1 1/200

ch53 blades Like a big insect basking in the sun parked rotor blades this is a complicated system which this current model does not capture properly the rotor head has some very thin joints which enable the blades to park but are too weak for card. We shall see if it can be simulated Elb...
