Canadian National F7A with zebra stripes

I'd just like to know if the Canadian National F7A with zebra stripes was used in both passenger and freight operations. Or was it just used for passenger only or freight only? Basically, I'm just curious.

How do you remove and install Athearn flywheels?

Thanks for the info. :) I never knew that some brute force is necessary. It makes me wish that Athearn somehow made it easier. hehe.

How do you remove and install Athearn flywheels?

How do you remove and install Athearn flywheels? I don't have a single clue. :(

    RDC rubber bands

Oh, btw, if you stored your Athearn RDCs for a long time, don't forget to oil the ends of your axles. Your RDCs should be the fastest engine on your layout. When my Athearn Genesis F7A and Bachmann GP50 are crawling, the Athearn RDC seems to be at full speed.

Blog review of Fiddler's Green New England structures

I've checked your warehouse, and I never realized how big that card model was! I think it will take 1/4 of my 8'x4' layout. Btw, did you customize the model(ie: mega-size it)? I do like your build and the way you saved money by printing on 20 lbs. paper.

    RDC rubber bands

When I had none of these rubber bands in stock, I asked my uncle dentist for some rubber bands used in pulling braces. Get the biggest of these dental rubber bands for braces. They worked for me. :)

Minimum radius for full length Walther's Budd passenger cars?

Yup, I don't plan to have diaphragms. But I overlooked the overhang. My clearances are a little tight in some spots. I think I should check it with my single full length Walther's coach.

Blog review of Fiddler's Green New England structures

If I'm not mistaken, the OO scale is only a little larger than HO scale. If the models were in PDF, I guess one just has to zoom out a little. It would be nice if the Scalescenes website recommended a way of turning their OO models to HO. Which Scalescenes model did you build? :) I like the big...

Minimum radius for full length Walther's Budd passenger cars?

I'd like to know what the minimum curve track radius for Walther's full length streamlined Budd cars. I have one (but only one) that my parents got me from a sale. They turn fine on 18" radius when pulled by an Athearn F7A. Would there be an issue if I make a 3 or 4 car passenger train?

    1950's era passenger cars

Thanks for the recommendations. :) But how about the short passenger cars? Which brand would you recommend? The brand I'm familiar with short passenger cars is Athearn. Is there a better and/or more economical choice?

    1950's era passenger cars

I guess I have to settle for the shorter ones, just to be sure. I'm looking for a short passenger train, perhaps with 2 coaches and a baggage/rpo combination. And I would like to have a GP7 or GP9 for them. Could you recommend a site where I can order these? :)

    how high?

Oh, btw, I think small children viewing your layout is not mentioned. Wouldn't it be nice if you get small children to see your layout and then probably entice them to the hobby? :)

    how high?

My layout is 32" above the ground. Being a Filipino, it's at the level of my waist. What I like about this height is that it makes reaching the center of an 8'x4' easier. When I stand up, I see a bird's eyeview of the layout. And if I sit down, I get to see the layout at a low angle. However, I...

Blog review of Fiddler's Green New England structures

Thanks, Loren. :) I've checked the Scalescenes website and the pictures of the models really impressed me. But after checking 2 of the models, I found they are in the OO scale and N scale. Can the OO scale model be modified to HO? Judging from the pictures, the models probably look better than...

Blog review of Fiddler's Green New England structures

I've made a mini-review of the New England card models from Fiddler's Green. You can also see pictures of some of the models built by me in the review. You can find the review at Mini-review of some Fiddler’s Green New England card model buildings at Balky’s Point. You can also find 2 pictures...

    1950's era passenger cars

Yes, I have 18" and 22" radii curves. I only have space for a 8'x4' layout. I have one full length Walthers coach that my parents bought from a sale. It went around nicely the curves. And yes, as of now I don't have plans to back up passenger trains. In fact, my layout consists of 3 independent...

    1950's era passenger cars

Thanks for the replies. :) Actually, I made a mistake. I was looking at the wrong website. I should have been looking at websites of hobby shops in Las Vegas since I was planning to ask a family friend in the city to buy some model railroad items. She will be visiting us here in April. But...

    1950's era passenger cars

I just want to ask if these passenger cars were used in the 1950's: ACF Budd Streamlined Heavyweight Pullman Also, did I forget to mention something? What are "Al Capone" coaches? Were they also used in the 1950's? I just found it in The Train Exchange website and I'm clueless. They...

1950's era flat cars and other questions

Yes, I think I will consider buying a Life Like RDC in the near future. But I would love it to be a set of 2 or 3. Does Trainworld carry unpowered versions? Or should I have all powered ones for a set? I'm also a bit stumped. Why is item number 31236 more expensive? Here's the list of the...

1950's era flat cars and other questions

Wow, a Proto1000 RDC is just $19.99? That's pretty affordable. :) I've found out that is the RDC 2. The RDC 1 is a little more pricey at $29.99, though. Do they also give unpowered versions? Are there other online sites offering it? I live in the Philippines, so I might need a source that can...
