Thanks again. :) I did some internet research, and found out that a particular GP7 HO model measured 7.5 inches. I measured my GP50, and it had the same length. I think I can fool people who don't know trains into thinking it is a GP7. ;)

This is interesting news indeed. :) I hope more Americans will opt for Amtrak. Passenger trains are a romantic idea for me. I could not imagine myself to model an American railroad without passenger service!

If the F7A looks similar to a FP7A, am I correct to say that the Bachmann GP50 (high hood) looks like a GP40? If so, what can be considered noteworthy differences between a GP50 and a GP40?

Oooppsss... I think I didn't know what I posted. Are the Atlas remote snap switches the ones I should get for the turnouts of The Trunk Line? Are they considered to be "standard"(ie: they match the turnouts of other manufacturers)? Btw, I use Atlas code 100 tracks.

I've read somewhere that you can use cigarette ash for weathering. How is this done? Do I use a paintbrush and then dab things like engines and rolling stock? :)

I've discovered in the web that Santa Fe made a policy in the mid-1950s to stop using observation cars. I wonder why? Anyway, at least I have a car that I don't have to worry about. ;)
