Its MONDAY 3-7-05, weekend modeling accomplishments!

Well, got the C&BT box finished up Saturday, then worked on the Bowser LO and finished it up Sunday, it needed an .010 washer to keep the wheels from hitting the car, now it rolls like its on ice. Went to the LHS on Sunday for couplers and some odd stuff, what illness do I have that I just can't...

Just for fun, how strong is your engine?

It's the amount of rise per 100 feet, 1 foot rise in a 100' = a 1 percent grade and so on! Get your scale rule out and a level and start measuring, you'll find that you probably have some pretty steep grades, it happens because we don't have the space for realistic grades. Usually less than 1...

It's FRIDAY 2-25-05, weekend modeling plans!

Let's see: To start off with, I have an old Athearn quad hopper disassembled on the bench that was in a box of flea market trains I bought this summer, needs the weights & coupler covers sanded of rust and painted, plus all it needed was a new truck screw to get it running, not bad for a...

Its MONDAY 2-21-05, weekend modeling accomplishments!

Let's see Fri- Finished the P2K tank car, tedious but worth it, now I have some tricks for the other three. Ran trains, had to make sure the tank ran ok, plus had to retweak them FA's, started acting up. Sat- Made it to the LHS for wheels and couplers, of course I couldn't leave with just...

    Help, another newbe question

Insulate between the switches, then put a hidden switch to shut off power to the turnouts and spike em, that way they can't be thrown if you are letting them run unsupervised. IIRC both packs should have internal overload protection to prevent any damage. You do know most likely they will be...

The plans are: Finish the P2K tank car tonite, these are fragile little things but look great. Its MONDAY 2-14-05, weekend modeling accomplishments!

Well, Friday I managed to build/rebuid the two drives for the TMofI FA-1's I got from a fellow forumite. Tuned and tweaked and have them running pretty good for old outside bearing Athearns, ran them for an hour and got no motor heat up so I guess there is no binding. Both on the track only...

Model Power Double Diesel Santa Fe F7

The decoder is used for DCC operation which is totally different than out of the box DC equipment where you control the speed with the powerpack. To find out more about it go to the DCC section of the forum. I don't use it yet, but I'm told if you don't have it and you put a DCC equipped engine...
