Model of the Week: Another 1/4 scale Merc..the journey begins

Hey guys, this is not quite exact I'm using Phil Smiths build as reference but not following it exactly. When I close this thing up you're not going to see much from looking through the hatch. The only ones that are going to appreciate the detail are those here on the forum, no one that comes...

Model of the Week: Another 1/4 scale Merc..the journey begins

Thanks...I've gotten to the point that if youre not going to be able to see it from looking through the hatch I don't see the point in putting all the time and effort into trying to make all the parts. I'll never get the detail to match what Phil did with his. I've been looking at his photos of...

Model of the Week: Another 1/4 scale Merc..the journey begins

Finnised up the pannel today. It's not real accurate but it gets the point across, with it mounted you can't see most of it any way

Model Of The Month: 1/4 Scale Mercury Capsule: Done 1/1 Scale

Hey Paul This is the only thing I can think of..it being different between capsules. The one photo you posted is from Phil Smith's resin build, I've been using his pics as reference but I have found some things different with his build and the manual, even the couches used, every capsule is...

Model Of The Month: 1/4 Scale Mercury Capsule: Done 1/1 Scale

Comming together Question....the parachute trays look shallow. In the photos of them in the McDonald Merc manual it shows the trays are at the very bottom of the recovery section, in the frame work that actually extends into the main structure where the hatch attaches. Did I see this wrong?

Model Of The Month: 1/4 Scale Mercury Capsule: Done 1/1 Scale

Nice pics there Paul. I'm getting the itch to build the heat sheild and thruster pack but want to hold off to detail the inside. I already have the aft bulkhead and instument pannel laying around. With the LES on top it's touching the ceiling, without the rod on top it's laying on the shelf next...

Model of the Week: Another 1/4 scale Merc..the journey begins

Thank you sir...duh, styrafoam I didn't even think of that, I've been experimenting with ways to make them from paper, or maybe even ping pong balls, but I've never seen a good sphere made from paper. Awsome pics...the main looks like it's made from sheet metal. I spoke to Scott a week ago...

Going back inside, hatch and frame, window and frame, front bulkhead mount. Hey Paul, haven't heard from you in a while, hope all is well. I was wondering if you might have the dimensions for the hellium balls at 1/1. I want to build these next but have no idea what size they are.

Very cool, I've been looking for this mod in mybe a 1/12 or 1/4 detailed scale. Need to figure out a way to make the bubble on top out of claer plastic. I've seen another builder on the forum here that has done some cool stuff with clear plastic from pakaging.

    Aniens M41A pulse rifle

Thanks All Don't let the parts sheets and instructions fool you. I was a very nice build, the instructions are right on and easy. The only tough part was the cooling vents in the grenade launcher section, kinda tedious. If you decide to build, take note when you get to the slide handle that...

Model of the Week: Another 1/4 scale Merc..the journey begins

Hello All As far as the LES... well it's a done deal. This will be my first piece built completely from scratch, no instruction, no parts, no printouts. A great piece to cut your teeth on, everything else for this mod will be from scratch also.
