I'm planning on using melamine (paneling for showers, also used to make white boards). You can use a utility knife or jigsaw on it, fairly ridgid stuff. The obvious advantage is that you can use a dry erase marker on it for notes, and then wipe it off.

We have the same situation. One of our TVs has a V chip, and there is a noticable delay between what we see and the non-v chip tv. Both are newer models, and both are not on cable/sat. I've been told that some manufactures buffer the signal. The funny part is the one with the delayed signal...
