HMS Norfolk Type 23 frigate 1/200

Hi Plastic Bonsai of PO16 I've had some success chopping up this model and extracting info with "conventional weapons" and it's not too bad as meshes for pretty pictures go. Not perfect but vastly more accurate than most. Would be interested in seeing details if you do let UMC2...

    Ultralight WIG craft

Lizzie Let's try spelling that as de-icer and talk about the inflatable black rubber strips along the leading edge of aircraft wings. Er ... that's rubber as in rubber and not as in .... well ... errr ... in anything else .... Cheers Maurice

Ed Let me speak softly of hard things. Do you seriously imagine for one moment that Darwin and I do not have our agents everywhere and that anyone who expresses a preference is not dead eitherway, their families too most likely. You get to choose which you use.:D Cheers Maurice

    HMS Onslow from GreMir Models

Shame on you Tim. You ought to know it was an obscure undernourished American battleship built exclusively to demonstrate just how far behind their naval technology was at the time. However there was a great fuss made when it managed to sail around Cape Horn when it was in a bit of a hurry not...

    Rivets revisited

As a solution for the alignment problem. Before you scan, draw a shape on the original, any shape that bounds the part(s). After scanning and mirroring cut both to the shape and go back to back. Cheers Maurice

HMS Eskimo designing ships for dummys

Barry An alternative alternative for access to rigging, for waterline models, is perhaps a double bottom. Before starting put windows in the base between former positions. Put a "solid" thin base on underneath later if wanted. Darwin USD 50, no way, try it with ads, no way, unless they...

HMS Eskimo designing ships for dummys

Barry Work out the scaling? I couldn't even find the wretched winches on my plan. It's looking betterer and betterer all the time, your new design technique works extremley well. In your capable hands it seems to have the incredible advantage of actually producing something. :D...

SS KRAKOW in 1:400 scale by JSC No. 42

Great one Jim. There's a lot of photo etch available in 1/350 scale for models in that other material. I have no experience of how suitable it would be but have you considered either using it direct or slightly enlargiing the paper kits. Sorry about the lack of pics but at least I wasn't the...
