Andy - I can post some pictures, but they're not mine to distribute. If there's a copyright on them, you would have to talk to the owner for permission. That being said, here goes..
Re: Thank You!
Andy - Another possibilty for you is to buy a K-1 track set from Kato. It's a portable Nscale oval with every except the transformer. You should be able to find on for $25-30 with the MSRP being $39. It makes for an excellent starter set.
Ron - I was perusing one of the online Model RR vendors and they had a book that apparently talked about Sawmill modeling. I remebered that question had been asked, so I decided to post the info. I am not affiliated with the vendor at all, and truth be told, you might be able to get the book...
Shamus - I love the flatcar with the semi cab on it. Is that based on an actual prototype or just a bit of English whimsy? Did you leave the steering wheel in or is it just a gas and brake pedal?
I finally got my P42s in today and they look incredible! I know, they were available for awhile, but I'm a late bloomer. I decided to put the Kato Superliners and MHCs on order to go with the locos. Then I can feature a four-line passenger special: The ATSF Superchief (circa 1940's), Rio...
Re: CSX MOW paint
Amtrak also painted their MOW engines orange. Very similar to the CSX orange, as a matter of fact. Nowadays, everything at Amtrak is in the red (Har!)
Hot dog, Catt! That's a real weiner! I like the change. It seems to add a little more realism, especially with the blackened trucks and tank. You weren't inspired by the new/old CSX paint scheme, were you?:p
Looks like ol' Sumpter is trying to recreate the Buster Keaton movie about a Civil War train chase :) I think the movie was named 'The General' but I'm not sure.
My DRGW and SPSF lines just got in a Baldwin Shark as well. Since they didn't own one either, I opted for the demonstrator unit. OK, it probably never really made it out that far, but real trains don't run on a polystyrene roadbed either.:p
Speaking of slips, the current N-scale magazine has the 'Atlas Eliminator' mentioned on the front. I pictured a 16oz roofing hammer with 'KATO' stamped on the side.
Foxman - you do have the copper wiper for the front truck, correct? The top and bottom of the frame should be different polarity as that is how the design is made.
FWIW, mine's been doing the same thing since I popped the shell off to do some cleaning on it. :( I just wrote it off as it...
#5: Isn't that just the cutest little thing?
#4: You mean you still play with toys?
#3: I didn't think you had any kids. Do you?
#2: So they go around in a big circle. Isn't that nice.
#1: Do you want me to make 'Choo-Choo' sounds for you or do you do that yourself?
I don't...
Depends. What roads are you looking for? Does Bachmann model your road? How much are you willing to spend? Does it have to be a F7? I have purchased a Kato F3 A&B set for $110 at an auction and two F3As at $45 each. Are you willing to pay for custom painting? I'm having a few locos...
BL20-2 eh? Alrighty... Can't say I've heard of this one before. The caption was kind of lean on the details, even after I squinted and touched my nose to the screen. You know anything more about this loco?
Woody-
Doodlebugs were built however the buyer wanted them to be. All passenger, all baggage, a mix of both, or what have you. Even the model RR makers admit that they don't follow a specific prototype because there is no set plan for a doodlebug. They just make it they way they want to...
