Here's a couple of shots of Rio Grande Southern's #6 at the Colorado Rail Museum last winter. One of the projects was to get #6 built back up to operational condition, but I'm not sure if that's finished yet or not.
I can email you the full-size pictures if you want them
Dan -
The snow on the plow of the GP38 almost looks like you're staring through the pilot at the ground behind it. It took me a few seconds to realize that loco had all the parts it was supposed to.
Dan,
There's a fellow on the Atlas forum that has a signature you'd probably like:
UNION PACIFIC
We Will Devour
And now, to stay on topic, here's another 'U' in the form of the Utah Railway.
Moving back to 'U' for a second, this is a DD40AX Centennial belonging to Uncle Pete (Union Pacific), #6911 and a sister unit in action. The DD40AX was built specially for the U.P. 6936 is the only Centennial still in active service today.
Dan,
That's the nice thing about running a model railroad - you can do whatever you want, even change history to suit your tastes. In my little universe, that merger actually happened, although I've only got a few units painted right now.
OK, I'm gonna fudge this 'S' entry a little here. I know that the railroad is technically the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe and should be filed under 'A', but I just can't resist. I absolutely love the SPSF paint style and #5394 is the best looking of the bunch to me.
The SOO line was acquired by Canadian Pacific. I'm not sure of the acquisition date, though. Probably either BNSF or CP was borrowing some horsepower hours from the other.
