tender wheel pickups for Proto Heritage 0-8-0

I got some tender wheel pickups made last night to improve the electrical contact on my otherwise brilliant model. I soundchipped mine a while back and was disappointed that the sound would cut out when the loco passed over most turnouts or dirty track, even though the point frogs had DPDT...

    February Photo Contest: LPB

The soldiers, a platoon of the Durham Light Infantry, are off to the station to catch a troop special. The women are a couple of 'milkmaids' from the adjacent dairy farm, come to wave their menfolk off to France.  Jon

    BLI Switchers finally out!

I have had the same experience as Ellis with the import duty, although I did get one of my SW7's from Tony's Trains within a week. I got the other one locally from Doncaster show, last weekend for slightly less than US$ + UK£ postage. I am really pleased with the look, operation and sound...

    Affordable HO vehicles

In theUK we have stores called Poundland or Everything's £. They sell this range by Cararama. The box says 1/87, but I think they are more 1/83 but for a quid apiece, we can always strip them for detailling bits. You might find them in the Dollar stores in the US. Good...

The lack of steps on the short hood walkway would certainly suggest Atlas/Roco. Jon

    Brit rail

Hello guys, I found this thread very enlightening to learn something about how British railways are preceived over the pond. Being born and bred over here (North East England), I just take a lot of railway things for granted, not thinking that a lot of information is not necessarily common...

    Hornby "00" on US Tracks

Dugnut, Modern OO trains by manufacturers such as Hornby, Dapol and Bachmann UK, are 100% compatible with HO track and DC power systems. The main problem you could encounter is that the OO stuff is 4mm-foot, as opposed to HO's 3.5mm-foot, so the OO stock could bump platform edges, bridges...

    bachmans 2-8-0

Did you buy it new or second hand. If new, take it back. If you got it second hand, it sounds like the previous owner had the connecting rods off and put them back on wrong. Can you provide some more info and possibly a pic? Jon

Sweethome Chicago under way at last

Thanks a lot guys. I forgot to mention that the 6 boards just sit on top of the legs after they have been erected and levelled. The gon is an Athearn BB covered gon (without cover) and has been detailled with grabs, stirrups and Kadee trucks. I also weighted the chassis with sheet lead and...

Sweethome Chicago under way at last

Things are finally starting to happen on the switching layout. I spent ages designing the foldaway legs, bearing in mind the layout will be fully portable and able to be transported in the back of the car. The whole leg structure can be erected in under a minute, with each set of legs...
