Is Ho The Same As 00??

If I'm not mistaken, OO used to be a popular scale during the hobby's beginings, but the scale wasn't 1:76, it was a bit bigger. Lionel produced some rather gorgeous models in this scale during the late 30's.

    Impressive loco sound

I've only heard the sound samples at their website and that was enough to convince me to spend on their mike (when I come up with the $280+ it costs). What will they come up with next?

    Neon!!!

I know there are several methods to model neon signs, but before I plunk down cash in an ultraviolet lamp and flourescent paint, I'd like to hear your opinions. These are my points: - The blacklit flourescent paint trick is relatively economical, but you can't make the signs blink like the...

    A Cold Winter's Night

That's a really dramatic shot! The beacon really adds up to the atmosphere.

Okay folks let's talk reversing loops...

I remember an MRC ad in MR (September 2003) that mentioned something of a reverse loop decoder that did all the reversing automatically.

Is this the most far-out train you have ever seen ???

Hmm... with a little kitbashing, I could have my very own 1930's streamliner if only they made those in HO.

The year is 1945 August 7.09 pm

Hmm, I though this was a WWII related thread. By the way, Ijust heard on the radio that the Japanese surrendered! (no kiddin', I was listening Rat Patrol Radio on Live365).

    Geographically Correct

Normally I like to do plenty of reasearch on my prototypes, but on this occasion I'll spend that time scratchbuilding, so I'll ask you folks: What are the major aspects of early 40's southwest Canada railroads, scenery, etc.? What are the major commodities (besides lumber)? Did steamers run on...

    A Period Poll

Actually, cars for that period are widely available. I search them on the Walthers site by typing 193 or 194 on the keword field. You'll encounter dozens of WWII military equipment (I want a jeep!), but you'll also find some nice coupes, buses, farm and construction equipment, panel trucks and...

    HO scale furniture

Neat job! The stairs look swell! As for the furniture issue, normally I scratchbuild mine, it's waay easier to scatchbuild 1940's art-deco furniture, with those clean lines, simple shapes, etc. The only truly challenging parts to scratchbuild is all the plumbing stuff (toilets, tubs, sinks, etc.).

    Next HO purchase

Geez, hopefully the BLI mike woun't have such problems. I think I'll still buy it.. (only if I win that darned contest!)

    Scratching my head over this...

Here's this little trackplanning issue I don't understand: (pardon my ignorance, but...) What is a switchback? Could anyone post a trackplan with one? I'm planning my future layout and I've been curious about this feature.
