    Your worst layout/Train running mistakes

My worst model railroading disaster was -howdya like this?- my first layout. It was awfully flawed. The trackplan came from a book called Building A Model Railroad With Personality, (those who read MR in the 80's might remember a series of articles about how to build the Jerome & Southwester)...

    Water Tower Diorama

You made a really nifty job with that diorama! (now, how would some finely weathered rolling stock look in there?)

    Grass

The trick to avoid that green roadkill look is to pass an old toothbrush through the "field" to make the fibers stand up.

    Grass

For that purpose I use fake fur. I bought a reasonable amount, dyed it in several shades of green and simply glued the mat to the layout. To hide the edges I use some loose strands and glued them straight into the ground cover. It has worked pretty fine to me.

    Awesome photos

I saw the link earlier and that is one truly great looking layout. The trackwork is masterful, the grassy scenery looks so... lush, and the town scenes really make it look like it was 1947 or thereabouts. Great job.

    New motive power acquisitions.

Is that really an Athearn engine? It somehow looks like it was made in the 60's (or maybe it's just some VERY heavy weathering)

    Drawings

The 3761 is fine. I'll use the drawings to attempt giving the engines a "family look" for my railroad. I'll post the results later.

Is Ho The Same As 00??

I was actually thinking OO. I have some 1939 Model Railroaders and many of the plans come in the "3 popular gauges"- HO, OO and O. Lionel produced a Hudson, a few freight cars and a caboose in that scale for 3 or 2 rail operation. They weren't produced after the war and they occasionally pop up...
