Good ideas all, I've used them myself, and they work great. I was just curious if anyone ever got their hands on some new ones. At one time, I used to work in the electroplating industry, and occassionally we'd get someone who wanted a spike plated and we'd have to really work on it to get it...

My neighbour works for the local railroad, and no luck there:cry: , and the manufacturer(Brafasco) won't sell them to anyone but a railroad company:curse: . Thanks for the suggestion though!

Does anyone know where I can get new railroad spikes? I'm just curious because I've picked up more than a few old and rusted ones here and there over the years in my travels, and was wondering if anyone had ever come across any new ones.

Good for you! I wouldn't put it under the track though, for saftey reasons, and also these days, if someone else, like an inspector, or railroad police officer were to find it, they might think that someone tried to blow up the track.

Now that's what I call a good cache!! Unfortunately it's over 3000 kms. away from where I live. I'll have to check it out on my next vacation though. Thanx!!

Hey Marxed! I personally use a Magellan unit, and find that it works great. The main thing is not to get something with too many extras that you will likely never use.

Pretty good idea! Since I've seen grain bins with different sized ribs, I think it should do perfectly! Especially if you let it start to rust on it's own for that aged look.

Hang in there Scooby, even though things are pretty rough for you guys now, if you keep your faith, you will get through it. Just remember that you have friends and family there for you, and all of us here at The Gauge too, and if you need help, don't hesitate to ask for it.

Here's an idea that I"m workin' on now. I'm using thin strips of green Scotchbrite to make a hedge maze to place on my layout.

Pretty cool! I've used Campbell's soup cans cut in half lenghtwise to make N Scale Quonset huts. Ya just gotta put yer noggin to work, and you can find all sorts of stuff around the house to add to your layout.

You're right on the money. Some people will not be satisfied until there are fences along both sides of every kilometre of track across the country! Those people should just stop and THINK about how stupid that is. I've also had business owners complain about trains stopped at level crossings...
