I have two SD40-2 Snoots that make the 18" turns fine (well, it would be better if it were 22", but they can make it without derailment). Is the SD40-2 different from the two I am looking at?

As I must take a break from the layout for a few days, I want to take the time and look into some new power consists. As of right now I am looking at Kato and Athearn. I would like something along the lines of an SD70MAC or an AC4400. Any suggestions/experiences would be greatly appriciated...

Please excuse the slight delay in layout updates as I have gotten my wisdom teeth pulled :). I have decided that the combination of pain medicine and HO modeling will not mix well. Please see my thread on helping me to decide a new locomotive to get! I will update this thread once I start back...

Hey Guys! Just wanted to say thanks for everyone's help so far with the "snoots", I am really pleased with the way they are turning out. Here are some pictures with the grab irons installed and painted. :wave:

Here are the pictures with the grab irons unpainted. Painted pictures will be here in a little bit. LongIslandTom: I know where to put most of the lift rings, but on the three fans towards the back of the locamotive, there seem to be dimples for something. Do lift rings go next to the fans too...

LongIslandTom: I was able to place all the grab irons except for the one you did not circle. Because my locomotive is a snoot, the nose is wicked long and to get to those holes is really hard. Pictures will follow soon. Wickman: There is going to be a mountain with a cut through incorporated...

Hey Guys, few questions for you... *Where exactly do I mount the curved grab iron by the fan? *Also, is there some where to find the exact grab iron locations for this locamotive (blue prints or something?)? It is hard to tell from the prototype photos. Thank you so much!!!:)

green_elite_cab, I am pretty sure I am going to stay away from DCC until I get my own layout in my own house a little while down the road. The building in the picture is Walthers Superior Paper Mill Complex. I will post pictures today of the detailing of the snoot.

I don't have DCC on the layout, just the standard DC. Just got back from my train shop with a pile of detail parts :) :)!!
