Kato Unitrack - Help with geometry!

That's my style too....if I'm given a project at work, I want to know the overall objective, and goals, or it's pointless to me! Of course, working on this with my 8 year old will help minimize the "goals and objectives" as well...I can hear it now, "Dad, quit tearing stuff out, I...

Kato Unitrack - Help with geometry!

Pictures Always Help! Maybe this will help to picture the "stages" i'm thinking. The red will be the first stage, followed by the dark blue, then the green. Basically, I'll remove the straight sections, drop in the turnouts, and wire from there. Or at least, that's my plan, for what it's worth!

Kato Unitrack - Help with geometry!

The table will be a shortened door, with 2" Foamboard. I may try tacking some caulk or something else removable here and there to hold things in place. I am planning on stages (the main loop and bottom inside spur being first, then the left side outer passing, followed by the upper inside spur...

Kato Unitrack - Help with geometry!

Any input before I order? Hey all, Just wondering if anyone has any input, good or bad, on the plan I came up with (see previous post). I'm getting ready to do the initial order for the first phase, and want to make sure I'm not overlooking something that will come back to bite me later!

Kato Unitrack - Help with geometry!

Figured out the runaround, courtesy of Drail Hey all, check out the attachment. This is what I came up with for the runaround. I wound up using Drail, instead of Xtrkcad. It appears that Xtrkcad is missing some of the Unitrack pieces, from what I could find. I'm using Drail in demo mode...

Kato Unitrack - Help with geometry!

Updated attempt with Xtrk Here's what I came up with in Xtrk. Some of you may notice that I couldn't quite get the geometry on my right side curve to line up exactly. I'm hoping there's enough wiggle with the Unitrack to make that fit! Suggestions welcome! For reference, I've kind of...

Kato Unitrack - Help with geometry!

Hey all! I'm a Unitrack newbie, working on a smallish layout (3 ft. by approx 6ft.) I'm running 11" radius curves at one end, and would like to run a passing siding around the outside of that (picture turnouts right before the entrance and exit of the curve). Can someone help me with the...

    Kato 24815 Unijoiner

The tool does come with the rerailer, from what I can tell online. I haven't actually purchased my track yet, just trying to confirm what I do and don't need. Where did you hide your rerailer, since it looks like it's bright blue?

    Kato 24815 Unijoiner

Thanks for the reply. For reference, I'm working on the N scale Great Northern layout from the Oct 2007 issue of MR. I'm dropping it on a 3'x5' table, and I'm worried about issues with the 12.375 radius curves. I can stretch it to the 13.75 radius curves if I have to, but it will limit my...

    Kato 24815 Unijoiner

Hey all! N-scale and Unitrack newbie here, working on putting parts and pieces together to somewhat recreate the Great Northern layout from the October 2007 MR. What are the Unijoiner parts for that are packaged separately, Kato part# 24-815? Are these to replace broken Unijoiners if/when...

Unitrack Plan for October 2007 MR Layout

Thanks for the offer. I downloaded the PDF from the subscriber's section and I've attached it. Hopefully this isn't breaking any rules! I appreciate any help you can provide in converting to Unitrack. Ignore the grade references, I'm mainly looking for pieces and parts conversion to...

Unitrack Plan for October 2007 MR Layout

Hey all! I'm new to the forums here, been doing alot of browsing. I'm in the process of getting started with a smallish N-Scale layout, working on a 3x5 table size. I like the layout of the Great Northern Layout in the October 2007 MR, and thought that doing that on a 3x5 table would...
