    My trains all stopped!

I don't know about those manufacturers, but could you possibly have the track wire leads connectd to the AC terminals on the power pack? AC will make a motor hum and the armature bounce like it wants to move, but won't.

    rustus en extremis

Dang Ralph, it looks like you had some caustic soda spill down the sides. As for the trucks, well, the railroad had to replace them because they were too corroded.:thumb: :D

    Train setup for hauling yardwork?

My yard is only about 40 x 75 ft. I could probably do an outside G gauge layout. It's not in sunny California, so I'd have to plan for the all season roadbed.

Coal, unless an early start-up was quickly mechanized and used larger rail cars, or conveyors to move vast quantities of coal vs. smaller amounts of gold or silver ore. Hardrock mining didn't have the convienience of large rooms...

    whitch way do i go

If you are using DC, by isolating blocks of track that can have the rail polarity changed, or if you are using DCC, then there shouldn't be a problem because polarity is not an issue. DCC uses the rails for power, but the direction and speed are controlled by a reciever in the locomotive. If...

Its FRIDAY 6-09-06, Weekend Modeling Plans!

Still planning the layout, but no construction slated. What ever I do regarding my layout will be on a whim. I'm planning on meeting up with an old friend that I haven't seen since middle school (30 yrs), here, http://www.rmne.org/ where he's a volunteer brakeman. I plan on doing the cab...
