I haven't done it, but it seems like it could be done and the indexing should remain intact.
Make a disk of the required diameter/ length that sits on top of the factory TT, then raise all radiating tracks to meet the TT track.
The only major problem that I see would be slop in the gearing...
I believe I saw one here about 2-3 months ago. I've seen plenty of pics of real life truck repair/exchange, but am at a loss as to where to find one quickly.
That's the first time I have ever seen that type of scenery modeled, that well.:thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
Can't wait to see it with the trains rolling though.
If you do a search on ebay for Clippard, or Skinner you'll get all kinds of mini stainless air cylinders and trick toggle type air valves for cheap. If you don't want to buy 10 different styles at one time you can also go to surpluscenter.com. They sell them too, but you can order what you want.
When I built my last layout I had a section of foam that was supported on 3 corners (it was triangular shaped in the corner of my L-shaped layout) so it bridged an area of about 12-14 inches. Not unlike what you see in the photos above. Compaired to the fully supported areas it was extremely...
What you have there looks pretty good to me. I suggest snaking the river back and forth under the ROW.
I know exactly what you are talking about because I thought of doing the same thing to model a bit of Phantom Canyon on the Flourence and Cripple Creek RR, when I was modeling that RR, and...
I've found that radius is also closely related to the type of layout you are building (real duh, huh). It seems that a minimum radius is more critical for a peninsula or table layout where you are trying to squeeze track within a width constraint. While designing my layout, which is an around...
I was wondering what had happened to it. Great to see it back up and running. :thumb:
Well done, but where are all of the ads? Shouldn't it be something like 90% ads and 10% actual modeling info? Seems like you have it backwards.:D
I've been wanting to try some of the printable decals, but...
I never had a real layout when I was younger. I belonged to a club in the next town over, which was too far for me to walk, but my parents were more than happy to bring me to because it kept me out of trouble. I scratchbuilt a few buildings and rollingstock, but most of all I did a lot of...

I want to say it is in thier RS3, but don't hold me to it. I have a friend who is one of the brakemen there and he told me which one it was when I went for the cab ride, but I forgot. We were hopping through all of the different locos in the yard when he mentioned it to me. I would think...
You can try these guys. http://www.homabed.com/
I've never bought or even seen the stuff in real life, but it looks interesting. I haven't compaired prices either, but if I had unlimited funds, I sure would give it a try.
Anybody ever try them?
I don't know if he ever posted one, but you are right, I'd love to see one too. If he is like me he probably drew it up halfway, then built a layout that vaguely resembles the original plan.
Yeah Lester, where are your pics? Hummmm?
Oh wait, here they are...http://www.the-gauge.com/showpost.php?p=192636&postcount=1
Lester has a really nice layout. :thumb: Too bad it's so far away.
BTW, how many levels do you have Lester?
PD- Nothing like a little overkill, aye? I think we all have built tanks at one time or another.:D

I've built shelves, benches and numerous other frame things using 1x3 economy boards, all ended up very strong and stable. If it's still wobbly add some diagonal bracing.
Honestly, for my...
