    sections to add to layout.

The old MRR adage "If you want to make a million manufacturing model railroad products, you need to spend (2) million" I haven't seen too many MRRing manufactureres driving in pimped out cars or flying on private Lear jets, so it must be true. One word of advice: QUALITY it has to be so good...

    Code 83 or 100

By all means use it. I was referring to that particular batch I had bought and how difficult it was to work with. I have no idea what is available for the smaller scales flextrackwise and if they are easier to form. If you are handlaying it probably wouldn't be as bad.

More people That just don't get it..

When I was growing up I distinctly recall my father giving one of the neighbors permission to whip my butt if I acted up while in thier possession. I never let it get that far because I knew that if that happened I'd get it twice as bad when my father found out. I also realized that I needed...

    Read This Now!!!!!!!!

I get spam ebay emails everyday. They even send me "ebay member has a question on item***********" Respond Here. It's the same page as ligit ebay questions, but it runs through my email, which is not the email I use for ebay to contact me, so I know they are bogus. Pretty blatant copyright...

    Code 83 or 100

Did you ever try to work with Code 40 flextack? I had some HOn3 that Railcraft(?) made years ago and it was frustrating. It's so fragile and hard to curve smoothly that I gave up on it. Looked good, but I'm not into surgical cow milking. I seem to recall that some loco flanges hit the tiny...

    Animated Peanut Butter Lid Diorama

TC, I keep getting an "error on page" every time I try to open the vids. I've tried quite a few times before as you were progressing, but have yet to see the model in operation and it's killing me because I HAVE to see it working. Can someone help me out. This is too good to miss, I can tell!

All the Youth talk is it true?

I had an eye opener awhile back when I was tallking to my sister about the old Silk City MRR Club I used to belong to in the 70's and she asked me if I had rejoined and I said, "No". She replied, "Why?" and I told her that I've become pretty much of a modeling loner and that most of the "old...

    The Bachmann warranty

I had a good experience with Bachmann. I lost a couple of worm shaft bushings when I took my 2-8-0 apart. I called them to see if I could get some more( there was a picture of the parts, but no number). I tried to explain what I needed to the lady, but she seemed lost. I eventually told her...

    Trackplan Challenge

Yeah, that bridge is what caught my eye while I was checking out the area with Terraserve a year ago. It was like "what the heck is that". I could tell it was a good size bridge by the shadow it cast. It's obvious that that organization has some deep pockets because I'm sure they flipped for...

    Trackplan Challenge

Mountainman, The Goldbelt line had two ballon loops. One in Goldfield and the other at Midway, so if you want to use them you have the prototype's permission. The F&CC had a wye in Cripple Creek, but no turntables. In fact, I haven't found any mention of any TTs on the F&CC, the Colorado...

    new layout photos

Hi mummert, You may wan to consider using a righthand turnout instead of the left in the front of the first photo. You are setting your trains up for a bad S-curve coming down grade and then onto the branch, or main, whichever it is. Also, the track to the yard coming from under the 3rd...

    Frozen door locks.

It's going the same way as the global cooling they claimed was happening in the 60's. Bunch of hype. Not to say there isn't a trend, but I don't believe in the 9/11 conspiracy theory either. I saw that it was warmer in Alaska than in the Midwest the other day, so there might be something...

    Vision crutches

Hmmm, sounds familiar. I don't wear glasses, but I do have reading glasses, which I don't ever use. They have a string, but I keep putting them down and forgetting them, so I never have them when I really need 'em. I see it coming (pun intended), the day that I need to go visit the...

PECO 3 way code 100 med turnout

I looked at the Walthers site and it looks like Peco is the only code 100 3-way. http://walthers.com/exec/productinfo/552-1055 Honestly, I'd just go for it. That particular turnout is on sale today. It's not often you find new turnouts for $13 less than MSRP.

    Is thias acceptable?

I use ebay all the time for buying and selling and I haven't had any real problems. My partner got shafted by the Nigerian mafia. I saw a brochure at the bank warning about such internet scams on the auction sites, the day after it happened, figures. Other than that, not much that couldn't be...

PECO 3 way code 100 med turnout

Wow, I'm rather surprised that no-one has responded to this thread because there are a lot of atlas ans Peco users here. I'm not an expert on either manufacturer, but I have used both, so I may be able to help. If anyone want to chime in, feel free. Peco trackage is European and looks that...

    trolley turnout

try this site http://www.trolleyville.com/tv/school/lesson6_3/ Scroll down the page. There is a section on paving around turnouts. After that, you should check out the rest of the site. Very informative and impressive.

    Preliminary Design - Suggestions Needed!

Ok, I wasn't sure. AS for general positioning it looks fine. It's basic and exactly what a small line would use. If the shops are right there, you may want to add a RIP track for those surprise repairs. If you run that track right by the machine shop add a jib crane to the side of the...

    Preliminary Design - Suggestions Needed!

What kind of industry is the blue building with the two tracks running inside in the first pic? It sure looks like a good candidate for an engine house. Since diesel locos don't need much more than a tank of fuel, water hose, a toolbox and a pile of rags to maintain, there's not much more to...
