Don't laugh too hard...It's my first attempt!

Is this like the longest running thread ever on the Guage...uh, Zealot? Naz, your layout has come along quite nicely. Great Job! :thumb::thumb::thumb:

    Wabash Banks Spring '07 Scratchbuild

Because it's a Maple sugar factory, which I always thought was strictly a New England thing. I never heard or knew they had them elsewhere. Great little building.:thumb:

Which HO Track do you use a majority of?

I mix, well plan on mixing. My hidden track will be code 83 and the mainline will be code 70. I model the early 1900's and the 70 is a good compromise between looks and reasonable reliability. I'm also planning on using Central Valley Ties instead of hand spiking. I wouldn't handlay in any...

    flustration with this forum

Sorry, I WAS joking (notice the little smile face) and not at all intending to indicate that either one of you, or anyone for that matter, felt that you were actually being picked upon. I too had my problems with the site, as mentioned before my last quip, but decided to wait it out until the...

    OK, this person is INSANE!!!!!!!

Sure they can. Find a bridge, get underneath it, stick camera (mounted to stick) up between the ties and film. When the train passes twist the stick 180 degrees. The give-away is the guardrail.

    flustration with this forum

I was having problems being remembered by the site and getting to see pics and follow links, but I haven't had any problems lately. I followed the suggestion of deleting the Guage cookies, well, actually all of them and I haven't had any problems since. Try the cookie thing before coming to...

Maximum grade before cars begin to roll

How about instead of using fishing line you use a few hairs from a cheapie chip brush. That way it'll look like weeds. If the cars keep rolling just plant some more weeds. The monofilament might last longer, but the brush hairs might be worth a try. I guess you could plant twine grass...

    Ohm's Law Chat with extra's

Thanks, I was trying to explain about Ohms law to a friend just the other day. He's not electrically minded, so it was going over his head. I haven't used it in a few years myself and it was kinda tough remembering what went where. Blind leading the blind thing. Now I have a copy that I can send...

how to make a good looking bridge

Do you have any prototype pictures of what you are trying to accomplish? I highly recommend the book "Model railroad Bridges & Trestles" published by Kalmbach books. It's a compilation of articles from MRRer magazine and covers all of the basic bridges. with the basics you can build pretty...

    NYNH&HRR station colors

I guess this is good as any place to toss this question out into the arena. I have a friend who is interested to find out what the color scheme that a particular station had while it was still around. The station was torn down before color photography was common place, so I doubt he's going to...

    LCL Operations

Bwahahaha. My dad had an '84 XJ 12 Jaguar and said the same thing about Lucas. Brings back memories of my dad, thanks. When the car ran, it ran great, but you always worried about it dieing out in the middle of nowhere. He eventually converted it to a 350 Chevy, but died before the...

    My New Haven Photos

Nice layout! I model the NH during the early part of the 20th century, but nothing as impressive as your layout. I too was thinking about towerman positions and was actually interested to see if anyone has ever buildt a mock up tower and used video feeds to simulat ethe tower's view. I think...

    HO scale 140 ton steel converter vessel { steel mill related}

That converter vessel sure lookd like the drum on a cement mixer. Depending on the size you need, you may be able to find a cement truck from a larger scale to use. Just a thought.
