    Opening a Hobby Shop?

Combat, you and I frequent the same shop it would appear. I remember the old Affair with Trains very well. Except for having to talk to Paul, it was a nice shop. lol Something about the closed quarters made it feel more alive. There were times when it had a dozen customers at once. I hardly see...

    Foam, Cork, & Track

If you do have problems with expansion and contraction, cut some small (1/8 inch or less) expansion gaps in the track on a straight section. It obviously gets very hot here in AZ, so we see a lot of expansion.

Popped rivet on Mountain 4-8-2 Bachmann

I bet they "refurbish" them like Apple does with Ipods. They say they're as good as new, but they never really are.

    canadian national 4-6-2 pacifics

This is what I love about steam engines, no two are ever exactly the same. They're almost like living things. I like 5626, it has the look of a hard working engine. Who made these models or are they custom built?

    Help!

Does anyone here have a Broadway Limited Imports heavy Mikado? I've ordered one from Trainworld and they have no idea when they'll get them in stock. Its on backorder. I'm trying to find out if they just havent shipped from the factory yet, or if they havent even produced them yet, I'm kind...

    Considering a new switcher

Travellar, like many mainline steam engines, 2-8-0's were reduced to switching duty as newer and more powerful locomotives came on the scene. In the case of the 2-8-0 this was around 1910 when the first 2-8-2's and 4-8-2's were built. So if you are modeling say, 1920 or later, then a 2-8-0 as...

I've even seen Norfolk Southern units way out here in AZ.

    Mixing Engines

Well, you are very likely to see a mix of power running within the same era. Even a mix of companies. Right now, you'll see GE Dash 9's running with EMD SD70s, or maybe even an older SD40-2 thrown in there. But you aren't likely to see a Dash 9 with a GP20 since they are seperated by about...

Tour of the Phoenix AZ Light Rail

Don't hold your breathe. If they finish that by 2010 I'll be surprised. If it actually works I'll be more surprised. Phoenix is terrible when it comes to mass transit.

    What kind of Engines?

Looks like the Northern is missing a side rod on the 4th driver. And there is another grille forward of the porthole, its an F9A.

    Cb&q

The farther back the equipment dates the more likely the full name will be on it. Modern tendencies are to shorten everything as if trying to remember Atchinson, Topeka, and Santa Fe is a task for Mensa scholars only. Nicknames are fine for conversation, but railroads not painting their full...
