    Doorway liftout.... HELP !!!!

I hope I don't get banninated for linking to another forum, but I think exactly what you're looking for is right here: http://www.all-model-railroading.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=92853&postcount=57

    Anti-duck-under Lift -up Module

This is an excellent idea. I hope you post your results here when you have a final product. You say the lift gate will be four feet. Does that mean the entire module, or the actual section that lifts out? I would think a full length of four feet should be enough, with perhaps a three foot...

    module construction

Very interesting. I too would like to see photos of your work. The use of 1x2 for inner supports makes me wonder if I should do the same for my future layout.

    Automatic train stopping device

It was likely a DCC system computer controled with sensors on the layout to know where trains are located.

    Prepairing to begin again

Interesting, because he said it was too crowded and didn't really offer much in the way of design aid, other than it needs to have plenty of 'wide open scenery'. The second is obviously better in many ways. No duckunder and nearly 50% more layout space in the same room. But 50% more cost in...

    Prepairing to begin again

I've posted these over at AMR, but they're old and slow ( ;) ) so I thought I'd get opinions here too. First thought was a simple 8x12 with a duck under. It includes two independant loops that can be "crossovered" into a folded figure eight. I like this very much, but it's pretty stinkin`...

    Electricity Bills?

Yeah I'd bet it's due to cold weather. Do you have an electric heater or a gas heater?

What personalities would your engines have?

Ha ha! I love these questions. I haven't personified my locos (small bunch anyway) but we used to give all our computer servers at work personalities. I'm looking forward to what UP SD40-2 has to say about some of his big locos (:

    Back drop scenes question?

I know you've already done the work to make 8x10 images, but you might want to see what someone like Kinkos can do - they may be able to make larger prints like 11x17, though lower quality, but you'll end up with far fewer seams in your backdrop. Also, there may be someone near you that has one...

    EZ taking it easy...again

Coulda just had a DCC unit installed while he was there. Control the trains with mere thought patterns. Good to hear everything went well!

    Rube Goldburg

Office creation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0J16dyV4Du8&eurl= Honda commercial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tkzr0naZnZ0 Rube Goldberg was a crazy inventor type fella that had fun with building elaborate mechanisms to accomplish remedial tasks, and bringing lots of entertainment in...

Soda cans? Cereal boxes? Tree trimmings? Styrafoam peanuts?

Isn't floral foam also mallable? Meaning you could essentially shape it with your hands just pushing it around? That would be pretty nice too!

Soda cans? Cereal boxes? Tree trimmings? Styrafoam peanuts?

Sometimes you just have to let them slip. Know what I mean? Ha ha ha. Has anyone used an anolog wristwatch to make a clock tower? A 1" face would be 4' in O scale, which seems about right to me for a tower or city hall or something. The clock face in Back To The Future was like 10' across.

    Laying Out My Track

"How close to the edge of the table can I get with my track?" Second verse, much like the first. "How close to the backdrop of the layout can I get with my track?" I figure I want something between the backdrop and the nearest set track to help soften the bluntness of the edge of the world...

Where have all the logging modelers gone.

Uhg, Yahoo Groups is such an unintuitive way to navigate a discussion. I like vB and phpBB forums so much better. But cool that there is such a group - I've joined and will probably find it quite informative. Thanks for the link!
