Any Successful MRC 1636 Installs Out There

replace the wire Get some mangnet wire. #36 should do the trick. Small tip solder iron and replace the wire. You will not have to strip the wire just pretin with the hot solder iron, and it will melt the lacquer insulation. You will jut have to touch the wire where you want it and it should...

    Challenger Mystery

I have not seen a post from TexDoc in quite sometime. The last I had heard he had the locomotive back and it was running.:thumb: Not sure where the problem was (or is) in this install. I have Tsunamis in three Kato Mikes, and love them. I had to do some room research to install the...

    Wireing question for a DPDT.

Looks like you have two good ideas posted already,:thumb: if these don't sute your fancy try a Radio Shack store. Look for a two pin plug and socket used for test equipment.

    Wireing question for a DPDT.

You don't need switches Install a two wire socket that goes to your layout. (track feed and or buss) then get a two wire plug for your DC and a second one for your DCC . Plug the DC in and run trains with DC. Unplug and insert DCC plug and run DCC. No switches, and you will never have both...

    lights

VOLTS and AMPS To get the proper resistor for your lights you will need to know the voltage of the light and the amount of current that it draws. Most likley will be in milliamps for the current draw. Like 15MA or could be 60MA. You could hook up a 1.5 volt battery to the bulb and hook up a...

    lights

Not 1 Ohm!!!!! 1 ohm will not work-- a blown light bulb for sure. 1k (or 1000 ohm) a good place to start- I would think that 750ohm would do the trick. The new book on DCC has a chart on resistor valuues for DCC.

How do I feed plain DC to loco from DCC track

unclear I am not sure what your are trying to do. Could you draw up a wiring schematic, so I could understand what your are trying to do? There all types of plugs and the likes out there, so what you want just might be a call away.

Rough time with Woodland Scenics " Smooth it"

Air Bubbles When you mix your material, you can whip air into the mixture. They will rise to the surface once you pour the mix into your forms. Just after you mix your materials, try tapping the bowel or what ever you are mixing the materials in. Tap it several times on a hard surface, you...

How do I feed plain DC to loco from DCC track

This is a good idea- steamhead. :thumb: I do not like the idea of the DPDT switch, too easy to forget what system your are running and what locomotives you have on the track. Either systems don't like one an other. I just use a plug into the layout - then the DCC system plugs into that...

What happened to 'conducting' oxidation on NS rails?

clipper oil I have found that clipper oil attracts dust. Sticks to the rails and will cause pickup problems with DCC. It seams to let the dust collect on the tops of the rail.

What happened to 'conducting' oxidation on NS rails?

Great Layout Man what a great layout-:thumb: and now your want it to run also? Just kidding.sign1 I would still try the Rail Zap contact cleaner. I think it will solve some of your problems. I run N scale and DC with sound. I don't run the layout everyday, sometimes weeks between running. I...

What happened to 'conducting' oxidation on NS rails?

Thanks Thanks for the tip  Here in the desert (Phoenix AZ.) dust is everywhere. Very dry, so dust floats in the air all the time.:curse: Not like the northwest where you are. Bet the rail fall there really holds down the dust.

What happened to 'conducting' oxidation on NS rails?

Rail Zip Try a product called Rail Zip made by Pacer. It will work wonders.:thumb: I put a drop or two on my center line track cleaner, make several passes on the layout and then wipe off with a damp rag. This is with N scale and it works very well. I am using DCC. This treatment will last for...

    Reverse loop length

wheels will short Well, when your metal wheels come to the gap in the rails, on the same rail, it bridges the gap. The rails are not matched for poliarity. The inside rail or the outside rail, makes no differance. So the wheel bridges the gap and the reverser see a short. Does not care if your...

To DCC or Not To DCC...that is the question.

DCC is the wave of the future. You will love it, as you will control trains and not a control panel. I would not rule out a NCE system ( Power Cab starter set) less than $200.00. Most of the time, someone will have it on sale for about $150.00 One draw back on a Power cab set up is it...

    Foam and flex-track

Cork-foam- I would guess it is a matter of personal choice. I have used both. The newest layout is done with Woodland Scenics foam road bed. I used tub and tile adhesive caulk to hold the foam to road bed and the same to hold the track to the foam. Make sure you get the non-silicone type adhesive

    phoenix train show

Not sure about the club. I think it might have been a module from Sun And Sand. The layout was a mix of different clubs, as I recall.
