Hey, I'm getting somewhere now! :D :P If anyone is good with planning, I am taking ideas. :D I am looking for something with a yard, a residential scene, and a harbor. Also, where can I get models such as tugboats, docks, and other harbor items? And who makes them? Thanks in advance!!!!

For scenes, I really wanted a harbor scene and a small residential area.

I remeasured and I can do a 4x7. Is that a good size to work with?

Thanks for the links guys. About the layout..... I can only have it come out 3 feet because of the window. It is going against a wall, and it is the only place in the whole house for it.

I cannot have the layout come out more than 3 feet because of where it is going. I tried N scale before, but it is boring to me because of the size of the locomotives. Also, 18" R curves will work on a 3x9, at least for the mainline anyway. I will see what else I can do. Also, do any of you...

After looking at the costs and UPKEEP of G scale railroading, I decided to switch back to HO, which I modeled about 7 years ago. So, I am looking for track plans. Does anyone know of a website that has good HO scale plans? I am looking for a 3' x 8' or 3' x 9' layout. Thanks in advance!

Has anyone purchased something from wholesaletrains.com before? They have a locomotive I have been looking for for $80 cheaper than Tower Hobbies.

#1: The train will be powered from the tracks. #2: The track will be left out year round. I am in central Virginia. #3: Not way too important. #4: Cost doesn't matter that much, as long as it isn't too harsh. #5: I have no idea what nature of track it is.

What is better, brass or steel? Is steel worth the extra money? What are the advantages and disadvantages with either of them? Does Ariso-Craft track do alright outdoors? Thanks in advance!
