    MicroAce 0-6-6-0 Mallet review

This is the 9800 class - 18 were built by Baldwin and imported in 1912. They were designed for use on the Tokaido line Hakone Pass route. They did not last long because their power did not live up to expectations and they had some inherent problems such as excessive wear on the wheels flanges.

Building the 'new' Setagaya Japanese layout

Most Greenmax building kits are very versatile in that they are very suitable, and in some cases designed, for structure-bashing. I have made double size versions of just about all their kits, as you can see with this building. By chance I discovered that the upper floor section fitted perfectly...

Building the 'new' Setagaya Japanese layout

Here is the Greenmax building, pretty much built straight out of the box. It is supposed to be a suburban station entrance, so you can see the stairs at the front next to the kiosk, and at the back is a great big hole where the walkway is supposed to be attached to take you to the platforms...

Building the 'new' Setagaya Japanese layout

After a quiet period just getting the layout ready for a magazine article, I have taken some test pictures to show the addition of some nice detail items. I acquired some A/C units and ducting, and billboard supports (in photo etched metal) and neon signs using Electroluminescence, from a...

I believe that they come here direct from China, not via the US, so that saves quite a lot of shipping for a start .... While they look very nice, its a shame they do not do their intended job i.e. pulling a long freight train !!!! Samples I have seen at the club here couldnt pull the skin...
