    Stunning PrototypeTrackwork

About a week ago, the crews were working after dark every night laying new track on the double main at the end of my backyard. This is a relatively high(er) speed mainline on the CN Toronto to Windsor Corridor. They redid both the North and South track and I thought I'd post a fine example of...

These N scale Canadian National lease units just arrived at the Paris Junction from the paint shop, and will be ready to be put into service once the 'new car smell' disappears. They are still awaiting clearance by the Health and Safety Committee and yardmaster.

    Grade Detection

You have to calibrate the car first to the grade desired ( I'd use a piece of track on a 5' true straight length of 1x3). Mark the centre of the bubble with a pencil at the appropriate grade you want. For example - the height at the end of a 1x3 5 foot peice of wood would be 1" for a 2% grade...

    Grade Detection

This is something I started working on when this thread first started. I have yet to place the car on a grade and mark the centres for the various % increments. It is - as was mentioned - a line level. The intent is to secure the level down with silicone caulking. The colour of the level itself...

Justice prevails for the Gauge !!!

Shouldn't pity them....they're morons. Instead, say a prayer for their families and the train crew instead. Read how the accident happened and consider how many times groups like Operation Lifesaver / The Police / and millions of $ in advertising predicted over the course of their lives that...

Definately do not cut the bolter pin haed off ! Unless you have some spares. If HO is anything like N - you should be able to pull the trucks right off OR take something to gently pry the trucks off. Place whatever you are going to use between the car body and the trucks AS CLOSE TO THE BOLSTER...

Tip for using meter/yard stick for creating curves?

Take a yadstick as mentioned. Drill a hole (nail size) at 0" or equivilant ( use 1" if neccessary). Drill pencil sized holes on the inch increments starting at your minimum recomm ended gauge standard. For example my minimum radius will be no smaller than 17" on my N Gauge layout.
