    Cats versus trains

I see we've have now resorted to amusing cats with expensive trains...what is this hobby coming to.

    Anyone have this happen before?

I imagine that if you linked directly to the Walthers site it would automatically label you as "item out of stock" like everything usually is on their website - for N Scaler's anyway !!

    Bamboo skewers.

Skewers in N Scale work great - We use them at our club and I also use them at home. Cheap, disposable and unlike the 'official RIX uncoupling tool' - you are not gonna panic if you lose it during an ops session. Skewers can be coloured also - to match operators' wardrobe.

    The Completed Storage Tank

The tank and scenery look great Doc. However the handrail looks like it needs a little CA treatment to reattach the upper handrail on the right there. You wouldn't want the 1:160 Employee Health & Safety committee calling in the Labour Inspectors due to unsafe handrails. A job well done...

Creating 17.5" Curves the Wrong Way

I'm going to guess that the reason for the derailments is that the curve is not 'fluid' in both directions. The radius may ease around in one section and suddenly "tighten up" in the second section or vice versa. Have you or are you able to look at the entire curve from a higher vantage point...

    live by train tracks?

The VIA passenger trains are on a regular schedule. Most of the freights are 'sure things' at certain times also. I have never really counted how many freights 'matter of factly' but depending on the day it could be busy or as dead as they (CN) wants. It's a double main with the infamous Paris...

    live by train tracks?

Hows this for a view everyday! Looking South at a westbound freight from my kitchen deck - It's the Canadian National - Toronto to Windsor Mainline - Paris Ontario ....Railfanning from the comfort of my own home...

    Structure "Do-over"

Try using exacto knives to gently shave the 'over glued' or misfitting areas. Repair, putty, repaint and add a little chalk. Even the worse 'previously enjoyed' kit can be restored.

Model Train Show in Markham, Ont. on Oct. 21

There is a chance George's will be at Woodstock - if not - they could be at Ancaster on Nov 11th. I'll be at Woodstock looking for some N Scale goodies as it is a couple minutes down the highway from me.

I just discovered my layout theme!

By heritage - do you mean like this ? It's an AC4400 in the CN heritage colours - I had it painted for me and it's one of my favourite locos in my fleet.

VIA Rail reveals new passenger train

Probably an angry modeller (READ "rivet counter") claiming the side pistons were 6 inches too long and the paint was a shade off - ultimately delaying model production for a another year and a half. Arrrgh ! sign1

    I Have A New Avatar

It's from 'Simon and the Land of Chalk Drawings (hopefully the one's narrated by Mr Dress-up) I can remember watching those about 7 or 8 years ago with my then 'lttle man' on one of the kid's only TV channels. I believe it is a Canadian version of a British created cartoon series.

VIA Rail reveals new passenger train

All right ! - Can't wait until KATO releases this in N Scale.

    Pick your brain

You've already got a head start there. How about a gravel parking lot / a couple trees / picnic tables and some railfans taking pictures.

I'll second that thought - Nice shots too !

    A nice little layout

How coincidental could life be. A co worker handed me a copy of MR (dated April 1971) and lo and behold it features Part 5 of an article entitled Railroad In A Coffee Table by Walter Olsen. It is in fact how to build this particular layout. This particular article deals with scenery and...

Good money after bad or you get what you pay for

The only problem with that Russ is that you don't (unless they are specialty trains ie coal). For example, you would never see a Canadian National locomotive consist pulling all Canadian National box cars for instance. It's a hodgepodge of boxcar roads from all over North America. That's what...
