Thanks for the comments. If Nobi posted a drawing of the hitch piece, I haven't found it. No plans to weather it. Might if I put it in a diorama.

Free Model #3 - Cromwell Mk IV

Finished!!!... Here it is. 4 months and over 500 parts later. My overall impression of this kit is very good. Fit is excellent and not over-engineered. I highly recommend this kit for an experienced builder. Thanks Nobi for making this one available.

Finished one track and installed. Those teeth took a lot of time but I think they were worth it. Just the other side to go.

I need your help. When I created this contest and laid down the rules, I had every intention of following them. I need a decision from the forum on my entry to be fair and not to disqualify myself. As I started on the tracks I noticed that the teeth on them are not represented on the parts...

Here's the last of the wheels. I saved the most fiddly for last. All I have left is the tracks.

You can say that again. Tabless construction always adds another level to the build. Thanks for the comments.

Didn't have very much time today to build but did manage to finish one the side skirts. The fit on this kit is outstanding.

Free Model #3 - Cromwell Mk IV

Turret finished. Fairly strait forward build. Tabless construction is always a challenge. Added built up hinges, hatches and bolts.

The tubes are pretty small. I use a pin to roll them around.

Free Model #3 - Cromwell Mk IV

I've spent the last two months making road wheels but here is a picture of the front with all the fiddly tiny parts.

Free Model #3 - Cromwell Mk IV

Thanks for the comments. I used 3 types of paper for this kit. 110lb cardstock for the hull and turret pieces, 90lb cardstock for the rest and anything that has to be rolled small I use 32lb text. I color the edges with Faber-Castell Pitt artist pens. They have a cool pointed brush and they...

Not much to report. Spent extra time to keep the body square and seams aligned. Also doubled all the hinges and hatches on this part.

Here is my build thread for the Free Model #3 contest. I chose this model from Thaipaperwork because it is well designed and is a subject I find interesting. Kit is only 5 pages but has the opportunity for lots of detail. You can download it here.
