    Micro-Layout Idea

My problem is I do not have much skill, or time. But when I do do it, I do it for hours, and make a big mess, and.. never clean it up. I'm not the neatest, so I get scolded by my family for living in such a pigsty. A few months before I got into Zealot, I did an internet search(I forget what...

    J V Models - Watson Siding

That is a good idea. I would do that when I fly to LA, but FAA doesn't aproove of X-acto knives or Testers Plastic Glue, even in checked baggage. I couldn't really mail it there, becouse by the time it arrives, my vacation is half way over. I only stay there about a week, but if I were to stay...

    Frams

Maybe... It's hard to do fields, especially in N. I have seen a way that works in HO that may work in N, that is using green yarn. another way is one I have never seen in person but heard it works well in HO, maybe it will work in N, but it is to wind green twist-ties together, trim edges, then...

    City scene

Is this your first railroad? If it is the most popular process is to start with the bench work, then track so you know it works, then scenery. Some people build the layout in sections. like build an operable section do all the benchwork, trackwork, then the scenery untill your satisfied then...

    New shelf layout (16' x 2')

I think you could run 4-axel engines on there. Today there are still 4-axels running on both BNSF and UP. I have been to Rochelle (Ilinois) where there is a double-diamond with UP & BNSF crossing each other every 20 minutes or so... anyway I still see lots of 4-axels running by (60% or so are...

Thoughts on N scale Bachmann Steam Engines

Thanks, Triplex. It is a nice engine, other than the fact it fries so easly. ...thinking about it, Life Like sounds about right, considering it's detail, running capabilities... Thanks again TGR

    Bachmann gp-40 diesel

I'd start by lubricating and cleaning the motor. Have you tried running it without the shell? If that doesn't work contact Bachmann, tell them your problem, and they may send you a replacement for free. Bachmann is constantly improving there locos so the new one might have had that problem...

    army tanks and equipment

I don't know much about military, but you can use toys! Walgreens sells almost-N Military vehicals in a 5 pack for $6 or $7. Some say they don't look real at all, but maybe with some super detailing you could make them look better. I'm on a budget, don't have a good selection of tools, or the...

Thoughts on N scale Bachmann Steam Engines

    New shelf layout (16' x 2')

It looks possible. That blue line (if it's tracks) is pushing it. What era are you modeling, becouse that has a great influence on what radii to use, what scenery to use, etc. ? Please post some more plans. TGR

    N scale minimum radius question

I have had some Kato Uni-trak that is 11"R. My more modern passenger cars can take it, but like you said, look stupid. I agree that 15"R is a good minimum for passenger cars. If you are modeling an older period (such as 1890s-1940s although very few in the 40s) you can probobly get away with...

    Micro-Layout Idea

I get lot's of big ideas. sometimes they're BIG ideas for small projects. In this case it's a microlayout in On30. Basicly a loop, with a siding. Here's the catch: All the track is to be hand laid. all the rolling stock is to be scratchbuilt. the engine is to be a kitbashed HO engine(turned into...

    Bachmann 4-4-0, More than shay?

Interesting. I think it's the guiding wheels. maybe they cost more becouse this is the only engine that uses them?I don't know. Any other thoughts?

    HO Yard Office

Well, I don't model in HO anymore. I just wanted to try put some new things. In other words, I don't know what locale, but I want it to be something like 1930s. The package says that it's a yard office. i'll have to check that.:v8: Follow up: I have glued the walls together, made a...

Thoughts on N scale Bachmann Steam Engines

WOW! I like my two Bachmann steamers, but hearing about those other manufacturers they seem like childrens' play things. I have had a little trouble with the B-mann steamers such as frying (but after sitting a few weeks they went back to out-of-the-box-running) and like I said, the 4-4-0 is not...

I just bought an HO scale yard office from AM Models for $5.35 (theyr'e web site is: http://www.tomarindustries.com/am.htm This is kit number 103. This weekend I am going to a train show in Stevens Point. I figure since I go there with a club, I could build the kit at the layout. I plan on...
